Sinclair drops theCoolTV from stations

This afternoon Sinclair TV dropped theCoolTV from all their affiliates. I assume it was due to money issues (same reason other stations have dropped it at renewal time)

From the Regional Engineering Manager

We are no longer carrying CoolTV on all Sinclair stations as of this afternoon.

both my HDTV's updated and now the station I had it on is no longer there.

Does this include stations that are operated by Sinclair, and not owned/operated?

Maybe some Sinclair Stations will carry Antenna TV in some markets or other TV network over the air to replaces the cool music tv channels. Here in Tallahassee Florida Cool Music TV was on WTWC-DT 40.2 now I check and its a blank srcreen. Hopefully Antenna TV will dig in to find some more stations.

yes
If its owned by Sinclair (or Cunningham) or run by Sinclair it was pulled. From reading reports it was CoolTV not paying

Sinclair right now only has 2 other stations they carry
Country Network
ThisTV in some markets (some markets other stations carry it)

Maybe they'll get the new TNN (Nashville Network) when it launches in October

I'm wondering about WGME-TV (CBS) channel 13 of Portland, ME. I know they're owned by Sinclair, as they run the ROH Wrestling show on Saturdays at 11:35 PM.

We get TheCool TV here on WCTX-TV 59-2 of New Haven. However, that station is operated by LIN Television, Inc. [sister station of WTNH-TV (ABC) channel 8].

it was only Sinclair stations that they (sinclair) own or run

WTWC 40.3 has The Country Network. ThisTV is on one of WCTV's subchannels.

WCTV is running This TV/My Network TV on 6.2 I think Antenna TV will be a good fit for Tallahassee on WTWC-DT 40.2 (former Cool Music TV) I think Antenna TV can begin to get Sinclair Stations if they can make a deal.

Though Sinclair never affiliated with The Cool TV in Grand Rapids (they were a recent entry in that market) or Milwaukee (Journal had the original affiliation agreement on WTMJ-TV), but if they affiliate with another diginetwork, it won't be Antenna TV in those 2 markets, since Local TV's WITI in Milwaukee & Tribune's WXMI Grand Rapids already affiliate with Antenna TV. I wonder how The Country Network is doing, & if Sinclair is happy with that network on the stations that carry it.

I'm guessing TheCoolTV is being phased out, as I don't think very many people were watching it. I remember a few years ago this happened with... Remember The Tube music network?

This happened on WBIN-TV in Derry NH which is part of the Boston market. There was a dispute a few months ago and was never resolved, so I'm now guessing its not coming back. 50.3 is now merely an SD simulcast of 50.1 (the main channel).

I don't think The Country Network is going to last one more year. I could be wrong.

As for Antenna TV, Newport just added the network to a station they're selling to Sinclair (KSAS Wichita), replacing TheCoolTV. If it fares well there, Sinclair may look at it and add it to more stations.

the only issue is in some of the Sinclair markets AntennaTV is already there (via another station)

But, for the Sinclair markets that don't have Antenna TV yet (Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Tampa, Cincinnati, Columbus, to name a few), this is a great opportunity.

I'm just hoping for Scripps or Meredith to rethink their strategy in Phoenix and add ATV. If WXYZ-Detroit (Scripps) can add Bounce on top of ABC and LiveWell, KNXV has the capabilities to add ATV!

Speaking of Scripps, will they be the next ones to pull TheCoolTV (they inherited the network on the stations they purchased from McGraw-Hill)? I know three of those four former MGH markets don't have LiveWell (which appears to be Scripps preferential choice).

While Antenna TV could be added, Sinclair could also extend its affiliation agreement with This TV to markets where This lost an affiliation to another network or the scant few where they have never had an affiliate. Oklahoma City is one of those situations where a This TV affiliation on a Sinclair station might be plausible, Hearst-owned KOCO is dropping the network in favor of Me-TV in October as part of an expanded affiliation agreement with that network. If Sinclair expanded its affiliation agreement with This TV to other markets where no affiliate is present, KOCB 34.2 (which carried TheCoolTV) would most likely be the one who gets it. Antenna TV is out of the question since KFOR got the Antenna TV affiliation by way of its owner Local TV, which ATV's owner Tribune Broadcasting co-manages.

North Carolina's Piedmont Triad, however, would be totally out of the question for Antenna TV since another Local TV-owned station WGHP has that affiliation, so This TV (which WXII dropped for Me-TV) would be the only option for WMYV.

KLRT (Newport TV) Little Rock AR dropped The Cool TV on 16-2 and replaced with THIS. THIS previously aired in the LR market via Equity's KKYK-TV/KKYK-CA in 2009 but were dropped for Tuff TV (and later Wild Mogals Network, Tuff TV a second time, before snagging MeTV).

I can't get off air (got cable) where I live so I took my little 7" TV a miles south to see what I could pick up. I live off shore of Lake Ontario just north of downtown Rochester. Locally, Sinclair owns WUHF but Nexstar operates it. WUHF was running COOLTV on 31.2. I think it was on digital cable, but that may have been a national feed. So after scanning a couple times, I can say there is nothing on 31.2 as of today. Hopefully they'll put Antenna on there soon.

Wouldn't it be nice if we got at least one of the retro nets in Austin, willdav713? Antenna, MeTV, This ... none of them. Not much of anything, really. No Bounce, MundoFox, etc. either. Oh, KEYE ...

Two Sinclair stations here in Pittsburgh.

Assuming The Country Network does not get dropped for similar reasons,
I expect it to move to the slot just vacated by TheCool TV on WPMY-22.
Meanwhile I expect WPGH-53 to replace it with Mundofox.

It would make sense as PGH is the Fox affiliate, despite the fact that Pittsburgh
has one of the smallest Hispanic demos in the country.
