Sinclair Named as a Target of a Boycott threat

So we don't want to reach potential voters? Do we assume everyone who watches a Sinclair owned station is a Republican?

I'm also guessing that these democratic candidates don't know that local tv stations are required to give them the lowest rates for their ads so, if anything this "boycott" will help Sinclair by running more regular ads that have higher ad rates.

Who's boycotting? You can't tell me hundreds of millions of people are going to stop watching whatever network affiliate is owned by Sinclair, and keep it up over months and years until Sinclair does.....what? Local advertisers know who is and isn't their customer calling and harrassing them to stop advertsing on NBC 13 until Sinclair does whatever "something" it is.

That's the silly part of this. You have the local newscaster lecturing the viewer about "fake news," meanwhile it's the same station that airs NBC News that the president calls "fake." So is Sinclair not taking advertising from Amazon? I doubt it. Does the Washington Post not advertise on the DC area Sinclair stations?

All Sinclair stations are also affiliates of that "fake" CNN. This whole issue speaks more to a top-down manangement style than the ownership's political bias. People are acting like like all these hapless people are going to be converted to Trump-supporting automatons by Seb Gorka's commentaries.

Darryl Parks, former WLW and iHeart News/Talk programmer weighed in on this issue, which is nothing new. https://darrylparks.com/2018/04/04/...oadcasting-examples-theyre-doing-nothing-new/

A Maryland Gubernatorial candidate, called for the Boycott of WJLA and WBFF,

A Cincinnati City Council member called for the boycott of WKRC and A Kentucky congressional candidate called for the boycott of Kentucky's Sinclair stations.

At the time of post these were the initial people calling for the Sinclair Boycott. But I suspect the boycott will go national given that Sinclair/Tribune stations are affected here and will go national. Note San Francisco, Atlanta , Honolulu and Boston are the largest TV markets not affected by the Sinclair Boycott at the time of post.

Like I said before, TV stations are required to give candidates the the lowest rate for any ad time they purchase so if anything this is good news for Sinclair so far, they can run more 3rd party or regular ads at normal rates.

I used to watch local news on a channel that was bought by Sinclair. Those ultra-conservative pieces started showing up,, so I started watching another channel. I’m not opposed to opinion, but I am opposed to it being inserted and trying to push it off as real news.

True. If you live in a swing state you actually miss the screaming car dealer ads. I once worked at a TV station during a heavy election advertising cycle. We pre-empted CBS and ran movies on 2 Friday nights for no reason other than trying to catch up on spot inventory.

Have you seen this video? The many Sinclair anchors reading the same corporate provided BS - edited in unison? Quite revealing.

I'm all for free speech, so IMO, they are free to spew any Trump-centric crap they want to - but thankfully, I don't live in a Sinclair city. If I did, I would be getting my news, elsewhere.

Hey LKellerIII Check 3:00 of the video its Dave Gonzales the former KCAL9/KCBS2 Anchor. Dave Gonzales was one of the Talent I recognize who was required to say things in the Sinclair Video and there has been discussions over how Sinclair News pressures its local talent to say questionable stuff. I seen the video and its insane these people had to say that stuff or else the Sinclair GM or Sinclair ND would fire and silence them for not conforming to their orders.

But Here in Northern California the closest TV station I can see being targeted by the Sinclair Boycott is KTXL Sacramento because KTXL's owner Tribune is going to be taken over by Sinclair. Los Angeles is going to get hit by the Sinclair boycott because KTLA is one of the Tribune Stations being taken over by Sinclair.

San Francisco, Atlanta, Honolulu and Boston for now does not have a Sinclair owned/associated station.

Thank God that the Bay Area does not have to deal with a Sinclair/Tribune Boycott like the rest of the Nation has to deal with. I remember when KTVU Fox2 was going to be converted into a Fox O&O in 2014-2015 I remember some people in the Bay Area thought Fox O&O's like KTVU, WNYW and KTTV were going to have Must Runs from Sean Hannity and Roger Ailes but that got proven wrong once Fox took over KTVU and KICU(aka KTVU+) and the Roger Ailes fallout came into play from Fox News Channel.
Even Fox O&O's like KTVU have aired news segments that were critical to President Trump in their Newscasts.

Here is an Update on the Sinclair fallout

Allied Progress, a left-leaning watchdog group, has produced an ad calling on viewers to call the FCC and stop Sinclair’s proposed $3.9 billion acquisition of Tribune Media.

Allied Progress says the one-week buy begins Friday and is promising the ads will run on four Sinclair-owned stations: WJLA in Washington, D.C., KDSM in Des Moines, KOMO in Seattle, and WBFF in Baltimore, which is Sinclair’s flagship station. We’ve reached out to Allied Progress to determine how they were able to proceed with these buys, given the challenges. We’ll update when we hear back.

You all realize if liberals boycott, conservatives will double down in their support. Chick-fil-A still exists and is doing very well.
