Sinclair selling KOMO, KVI & KPLZ

I have a feeling they're waiting for KNWN-FM to be approved by the FCC before they change their ID. They might be thinking it's easier to keep the old ID active, then just start IDing as "KNWN Seattle, KNWN-FM Oakville", skipping past having to ID as "KNWN Seattle, KOMO-FM Oakville" like they technically should be doing.

Has the KOMO name been wiped from all branding or are they still calling themselves “KOMO Newsradio”?

Not yet I believe, especially since KNWN's website is still at *KOMO Newsradio* at KOMONews.com

The Call Sign Reservation System is experiencing a lot of problems right now, and many of the call sign requests are being done manually via the legacy Call Sign Desk. It's very possible that human error made the AM 1000 change active before the requested date.

I think that would make sense since the FM has a later active date, and the branding has not changed.

Also, the Call Sign Reservation System is showing that KNWN is available again (as of 10:53 AM today). So there's probably something going wrong with the change.

According to nwbroadcasters.com the change takes place at 2pm Monday.

That's not what the nwbroadcasters.com said. It said, "However, as of today at 2 p.m., the station is still identifying with its current calls." That was posted on Sunday.

On air, it's still KOMO, website is still the same. The relaunch will probably be Monday AM, in time for the morning rush.

What is the new web address? KNWN.com is taken, and knwnnewsradio.com is still available.
I still think that format changes may be happening pending the changes of the FM call letters.

They use a lot of content from KOMO-TV, and I think it would be hard to operate a news station without that content.
Do they have a permanent agreement with Sinclair to use the content?
They had a temporary agreement while working out the final merger details.

UPDATE: It sounds like they will be called Northwest News Radio.

Nobody at the Commission is going to go after them for a violation for something like this. Settle down people.
I’m more than well aware, but the question was if it was against FCC rules, which it is. Simply answered the question.

Though I did say early on I believed it was a flub on part of the FCC.

Thoughts on KPLZ... good way to blow up a station. The phone bits sound scripted and forced. Julian Nieh is nails on a blackboard. There is a stable of pro voices on the sidelines that could deliver much more. The consultant needs to be drug-tested. (comment from a friend on the topic of the new KPLZ.)

The playlist has also been expanded with more forgotten hits of the last 20 years (heard “Underneath Your Clothes” from Shakira yesterday)...and stiffs (just heard “Lifestyle” from Jason DeRulo and Adam Levine, which fell off in about 1-2 months time last year). I get the “more variety” part, but I’m not sure how this is going to improve ratings.

I agree. This definitely counts as more variety, but I’m not really sure that this is the recipe for success for a hot AC. I just give them credit for expanding their playlist and trying to be unique.

AM 1000 / FM 97.7 still calling itself "KOMO" as of this morning. I looked up KNWN, found it on Wikipedia, clicked, and it redirected to KOMO. What happened to the call letter changes?
