Sinclair chief David Smith made it super clear when he signed up with My Network TV...he liked their "model". That model, of course, includes Sinclair paying nothing for the privilege. Ask anyone who worked for Sinclair's former CBS affiliate in Sacramento, now-CBS O&O KOVR/13...they don't like paying for stuff.
CW's "sweet deal" would certainly have to include no reverse compensation... something they've shown no indication they would do at this time. Les Moonves (CBS chief, CBS owns half of CW) has told anyone who would listen that he's going to make stations pay for both CBS and The CW.
I have trouble seeing him pay stations even out of desperation. They'd go with a CW cable channel (a la WB 100-plus) or something before they'd pay Sinclair.
The upshot - CW/CBS/Moonves wants money. Sinclair/Smith doesn't want to pay.
