Sine System date snafu

I have several stations that utilize the clock and calendar in Sine Systems remote control equipment to automatically handle sign on/off, power changes, etc. I had a slew of calls this morning from stations saying that their transmitter(s) failed to come up this morning. I checked the date on the Sine and found them reporting the date as 02/29/00.

If you are dependent on the Sine System calendar, then you might want to verify the date.

I dialed in to one just now & mine said 03/01/07 and the phone didn't ring this morning. It's about 2 years old.

2/29/*00* ? Sounds like the year is wrong... was 1900 a leap year? If the system isn't "y2k" compliant, just pick an earlier year that is in sync with the 4-year leap year cycle...

The problem lies in the change from December 31 to January 1. Some RFC-1/B systems will roll over to the correct year, while some roll to 00 (for 2000). 2000 was a leap year, so it naturally has a February 29 before March rolls around. (And, just for the record, 1900 was a leap year as well.)

I'm not quite sure what particular units exhibit this problem. I have one or two units that do this but have units older and newer than these that do not.

I find it good practice to routinely check the clocks and calendars on these systems when I'm checking telemetry.
