Recently, some Boob...on this board...tried to convince me that THE ROAD features Grade A, National Air Talent,...yet none of their voice trackers can hold a candle to Rock 101's The Stoneman or Mark Hendrix. However, as we all know, THE ROAD is on the air to simply shave male numbers away from WROQ; benefiting WSSL. Three Rock stations in the GSP market, but none of the three can render double-digit ratings. For each, somewhere, in some city, regally seated behind trade-out office furniture is...The Playlist Picker. The way I see it, he was hired to Pick the Playlist, and lead the station to a 10-share. So, why hasn't that goal been met? You hired the right guy,...Right? You wouldn't hire a Plumber that had never repaired a toliet,...Right? Here is where the Rock stations fail...underserving their listeners. Regardless of their slated format, each of the three fail, and can only render single digit ratings. It is truely senseless with all the new Rock product currently available: The KISS arguement may be the easiest; 35-years in the biz, millions sold, and most of those albums recieve little or no airplay. "Sonic Boom" was ignored, and their new one, "Monster", deserves airplay past the single. New releases: Yes-"Fly From Here", Halestorm-"The Strange Case", Asia-"Thirty", Heart-"Fanatic", Journey-"Eclipse", Rush-"Clockwork Angels",...the list is thick, fresh, and worthy of Airplay. My latest pick is "Kimball-Jamison", a calab of two frontmen: Toto's Bobby Kimball, and Survivor's Jimi Jamison. The vocal power is absolutely staggering! Even the all-powerful Aerosmith, with their new release, will get denied. Heck!...Consultants should jump all over new releases. It's not like they are endanger of being fired!
