Single vinyl record / Turntable issue

Not quite an issue, perhaps more a question, I'm too lazy to think about a work around.
Most new vinyl singles use a narrow center hole similar to the album's one. Those who worked with Russco's and similar turntables know that the center adapter is casted on the plater and it's extruded from the base. If I put a single record with a narrow hole it won't seat correctly and flutter may happend. How was that problem fixed when you used turntables?
(yeap... I built a riaa preamp (Velleman kit) and connected it to the Harris Stereo 80... it's working nicely... )

My operational setup consists of (at the moment):
Harris Stereo 80 console
Harris Criterion 90.3 triple decker PB cart machine
Harris Criterion 90.2 R/P cart machine
Harris CB-1201 Turntable

This is what we did in the "old days" ....
Find an old, pretty much worthless LP. Glue down some felt on one side.
Put it on the turntable, felt side up.
Put your new disc on the newly felted LP and enjoy the music.

I did the same thing with 45s by glueing a plastic 45 adapter on the album as well.

Made it much easier to slip cue a 45 then doing it direcly on the turntable.

That's exactly how we used the felted LP. I just figured that you could do the same thing to play those 7" small-hole disks too.

Especially if you had a 16" turntable!
