It was announced on Rhianna's appearance on The X-Factor Thursday night that she has had 11 No. 1 singles.
Forgive my ignorance, but back in the day, I played hit songs on 45 RPM records. What, today, is a single?
 
Whatever song is released for radio play or is the top public featured song from an artist or album.

One of my more favorite songs at the moment, and I even like it more than I liked Mike Posner's first single when it was released.
