SINKING SINKING KYLD...WHAT HAPPEND?!

The book came out and KYLD seems to be sinking in SF as well as SJ... Whats the deal? When will CC brass make changes and help this once powerhouse station at LEAST make it to the top 5 in both markets!?

I hardly see a half a rating point in 18-34 year olds as "sinking." Plus, their 18-34 ratings in the past few books were inflated due to lofty 7-midnight ratings. That time slot got wacked this Fall affecting the station number overall. They should keep doing what they have been going forward in my opinion because the station sounds as solid as any in the country that I've heard recently. Mornings are on the uptrend. Don't lose sight of the fact that Clear Channel is in the midst of tightening budgets severely which should have a small effect on all its stations ratings over the next few books.

Jazzy Jim just got these dorks around him pushing stupid corn ball ideas. Have you seen some of the Wild 94.9 video blogs? Just straight nerds trying to wayyyyy to hard.

S.F. cluster management didn't have a clue on how to manage "The Doghouse"! That was the demise of KYLD, numbers & sales.

I remember that they canned the "Doghouse" crew. What was the trigger for that? What do you think they should have done instead?

From personal experience, I can tell you that the negatives associated with the Doghouse far outweighed the positives.

While the termination could've been handled better, it was obvious to most at CC at the time that they were burning out and burning their bridges. Which is what they ended up doing.

You can rip CC management for many things. But losing the Doghouse isn't one of them.

Wild was in their prime with the Dog House. They wanted to syndicate into other markets, but they had no backing from management. They signed a contract and were promised syndication, only to be put in Riverside, if you even call that a syndication.

They could've been popped on in Seattle, but management didn't want them to compete with other CC stations...

They brought Wild so much revenue, especially with the Comedy Jams, and Wild is still making money, albeit not as much as before, off of JV's concept.

The Dog House was going to leave 94.9 anyways at the end of 2005, so they found a reason to dump them so they could rebuild earlier. Wild is a shell of its former self.

LOL...it seems they had you (radio profit) confused with me.
I currently live in New York and work for CBS in sales...but I am a woman....a woman born and raised in the Bay....and I get back there on most of my vacations.
I'm also a woman who can tell you first hand that while the lame Doghouse boys walked around thinking their hidious show was actually good...us salespeople not only had a midday show that couldn't be sold...were treated badly by the losers that are/were JV and Elvis.
No lie when I tell you we couldn't give advertisers spots on their show for free not to mention sell those jerks. We haven't missed them one day and still have the memory of the great party we had when they got canned. Again I hate to beat people when they're down (and these two are clearly down and out) but they made it so easy for us.

The Dogs did have a real attitude that made them a pain to a lot of the folks around at the time. Bet it was their giant salaries more than the attitude that got them out the door at Wild. That said, I don't see how they caused problems for sellers selling the midday show. Like 'em or hate 'em, there were $1500 a minute spots showing up on the Dogs' logs.

I'm writing about when they worked here in NY doing middays last year before we canned 'em...and trust me, their salaries were not big when they worked here in NYC.

Since the Dog House came as a package, I'm not sure you have your N.Y. facts straight. I still profess that with the proper management of their product, there is a place for them. Yes, I do have inside information.

They even admitted on air they were making absolutely nothing and took a huge paycut to be in NYC. They would've moved into the afternoon drive slot if Radio Chick, who was doing afternoons at FREE-FM didn't have it in her contract that she had to be in a drive time slot.

Even the PD admitted this...

Ah yes...the Doghouse loyalists just can't let it go.

If they were still in demand...If they could just get along with others that they work with, they'd still have a gig.

It's been a long time since they were on air.

But...nobody cares anymore. Accept it and move on.

Lets get back on topic here, looking at SJ numbers, which is supposed to be KYLD's "backyard", 12+ they are a few points off of losing to La Kalle, a station which is a shell of its former self playing a format that has been near death for about 2 years now.

And I defenitely agree with WhiteMenace about the video blogs, what a joke! I laugh at them, but not for the lame jokes they try to make, but that they make asses of themselves and after they are done recording im sure Jazzy is patting them on the back talking about how little things like that add up to ratings. WHOOOPS!!!!
