Sir Johnny Dankworth, British Jazz Legend, Dead At 82

Paased away Saturday after long illness.

Made several albums along with his wife. Had #1 with African Waltz in 1961. Did scores for several movies and TV shows including fathom and modesty blaise.

Composed original score for The Avengers as well.

Has place in radio history as his tune "Beefeater" was signature tune for BBC radio One Tony Blackburn. It was the first song ever played on Radio One when it signed on in 1967.
