A friend of mine called and said they changed out programmers and I have to say..."GOOD JOB" to the new guy!! The music SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER!!! Not a bunch of disco and urban and classic rock anymore. Much better music mix. More balanced and bigger hits.

Now...if he or she could just ditch those hokey jocks. That Matt Alan guy could be the worst besides Barry Williams and that night bafoon JJ Jackson. These guys all sound like small market Top 40 wanna be's. Not a good fit for an adult format. Adults DON'T want to hear juvenile old creepy guys. A Brady Bunch DJ is gimmicky. This is 2007! Go jockless! We don't need someone saying the title of the song that we have heard for the 1000th time. Plus if we forgot the title, we can simply look on the screen.

Ditch that imaging as well. TOO busy and TOO intrusive. How about some DRY segues. (Jingles?? Why??)

If the 70's channel keeps getting better, I'm going to have to up my subscription for another year.
 
Matt Allan and JJ Walker( not Jackson- he was an MTV VJ who passed away) are hardley hack jocks. Both are well known, award winning, former big market jocks. They entertain and know their music very well- and are popular.The PD who left was actually the Exec VP of Programming, Jay Clark- he did not program the channel. The PD is Jim Ryan, and he has been for several years- and is doing great! DO NOT go jockless, this is called radio , not an ipod!! The 70s is a mix of many genres, including pop, rock, soul, disco, country and more...keep it that way!! This is music of the 70s, featuring all the songs that hit the charts, not just the type you may like. Thus- TOTALLY 70s!! If we cut out disco, you have lost 25% of hits of the 70s.....if you want a classic hits channel, go back to FM where they narrow the focus and have limited playlists. Thats not what I got sat radio for.
 
Couldn't disagree with you more. I just love it when a music professor such as yourself grabs a statistic out of thin air. [Disco makes up exactly 25% of music from the 70's] Newsflash bud...no it doesn't!!!

Also, those Jocks that you say are "former" Large market DJ's, they couldn't get gigs in major cities now. They are all past their prime. They sound goofy and geeky and need direction. Adults DON'T want that crap coming in over top of their favorite songs. It's anoying. The other day Matt Alan was playing sound effects of tin cans falling and he was yelling about something that made NO sense. It would have been so much better if they just went song to song without that "former" large market award winning moron trying to be funny.

Sorry, but you write this is radio, not ipods. Guess what. People are buying ipods to get away from bad dj's, commercials and sweepers, jingles, and everything else that gets in the way of their favorite songs. Sirius 70's needs to program to non-radio people and subscribers and not radio geeks that freak out when they hear a new jingle package.

I really wish the average public could write and respond on this board as opposed board ops to get the REAL oppinion of the average public.

Actually, the average public, 93%, listen to terrestrial radio, and most are quite happy with it.

I do believe the DJ's on Oldies type stations, 60s, 70s or 80s should "know their audience"
and know they are not 15 anymore. Relate to them NOW, in their 30s-60s.
 
I checked the Billboard yearly charts (top 50 songs for each year) ,used the disco era 1973-79. 1973 had 7 of 50 top songs disco/dance, 1974 9 of 50, 1975 11 of 50, 1976 19 of 50, 1977 12 of 50, 1978 14 of 50 and 1979 21 of 50. So out of the top 350 songs from 73-79 91 were disco/dance of those top hits (26%). Its even more if you include the top 100 for the years, I didnt include 70-72, as disco hadn't reared its head much yet. Regardless if its 26% or 20%, disco was an important part of the 70s music scene, and whether you liked it or not, its in that decade. Thanks for the lecture Mr. Know it all, I just love it when an expert comes on here and makes like he is Joel Whitburn. Have a totally 70s day!! :D
 
Sirius 70's needs to keep the jocks (except Barry Williams) and bumpers. They need to keep the pop mix and not wander out with some 9 minute classic rock cut. Keep the Jukebox from Hell (if I am not listening to Totally 70's, I usually tune back around :35 to hear what they'll play).

Overall, it is one of my Top 3 stations.
