Sirius...Absolute Crap!

I think Sirius and XM are crap...absolutecrap. Example...the Stones channel on Sirius claims to play
almost EVERY Stones song ever recorded, but within 12 hours, you'll hear ''Start Me Up'' and
''Brown Sugar'' at least twice. So much for a ''deep'' playlist. If the Stones channel has a
tight playlist, then you can bet the other frickin' channels... ALL of them... on Sirius do too.
Why would I wanna hear a tight playlist and PAY for it when I can hear a tight playlist for
FREE on FM? AND get local traffic, news, etc too? It's obvious that Sirius is dead...XM
too. Howard Stern's career and notoriety have since he went into orbit. How many listeners
signed up to follow him to Sirius? Nine? Ten? What a joke. Put ANY channel of Sirius on
for 12 hours...just let it play...and see how many times you hear songs repeated. It's no
frickin' different than FM. If you wanna pay 15 bucks a month for crap you can get for
free elsewhere, go ahead. But if I were you, I'd save the cash and get a nice mullet and
then go see your favorite Winger tribute band.

And which radio company do you work for?

I don't work for any radio company. Do you work for Stern? This isn't about who I am, or what I do, or who I work for. It's about how lousy Sirius is. XM too. They're no different than ''old fashioned radio'' because they repeat the same crap over and over and over. Why would anybody wanna PAY for that? It's just stupid to pay for something that you can get for free.

LOL This guy has to be kidding!!! If you take him seriously then shame on you.Why would anyone wanna hear FM with a playlist of 40-50 songs a day with tons of commercials instead of Satellite with 5 times that and no commercials.Myabe he enjoys hearing Time,Traffic, and Weather and 23 minutes of commercials and hour. Some people I speak to say they enjoy FM Better fro the local feel, thats cool, but to say its no different is ignorant and boneheaded.Just some stats for you ....Sirius went from 800,000 subscribers to 6 million in 10 months since Howard signed up.All of the Stern haters will say they all didnt sign up for him,but who? Martha Stewart? and Nascar starts in January why sign up 3 months before?Howard's name alone means $$$ wether you are a fan or not,and Sirius knew that.He alone, financiallly saved a dying company. Also I dont know what music is your preference, but the stations I play make me smile every day by playing Album cuts, older songs and stuff That is never played on FM...If you are a classic rock listener you can almost predict what 3 songs there allowed to play when they annonce an artist is coming up next, thats laughable. But its safe and PD'S like safe.Sorry you dont like Satellite, but its your loss, your obvious ok with a tight playlist and probably enjoy your local station, but if you were an actual music lover and appreciated good variety then you would know that Satellite far surpasses Prehistoric FM. Good Luck in the dungeon of Hell that is Terrestrial Rdaio

I noticed a very good playlist on the channels I listened to both when I had access to it on Dish Network, as well as the free online trial. My Sirius equipment should be in this week and I can't wait.

I'm betting that the person who started this thread does not live in a market with no good classic or modern rock station, no alternative station of any kind, and 3 country stations playing the exact same music. The Raleigh, NC market had only one station that could be considered having an AAA format, and that was WRVA-FM. After the format flips of WRVA-FM and WRDU, I decided that I was finished listening to local radio for anything other than news and sports that are not carried on Sirius. Well, WRAL-FM isn't too bad... but I need more variety than that.

Don't even get me started on the commercials on local radio... especially the ones that get those stupid jingles stuck in your head. I will gladly pay $12.95 a month to preserve my sanity.

Keef59 has stated his opinion.... now it's my turn.

Reasons why I have/love serious:

1) BBC Radio 1. Not on FM.
2) EPL, Champions Leauge, and other soccer coverage. Not on FM.
3) College/Indie rock. FM does indeed have some top notch outlets in a handful of markets, but it's not everywhere.
4) Bluegrass. Hit or miss with FM. I'd say more of a miss.
5) EVERY NFL and most if not all NHL games live and heard coast to coast. Varies by market/location on FM/AM.
6) I can drive across the country and have the same selection north, south, east, west, and everywhere in between. Not with FM/AM.

Those are the big ones for me. I'm sure I could come up with more... (cough)(cough)COMMERICALS(cough)(cough). I still use FM/AM for local news, traffic, and the occasional "gem" still left on the dial in a few fortunate markets. Sirius... $12.95/month and worth every penny for me :) Howard Stern.... who's he? ;)

Keef59, you need to get your ears cleaned,XM and Sirius are the future of radio!! Its not 15.00 a month, its 12.95 , thats 44 cents a day, You got to be kidding about FM! I live in the Bay Area, if there was no "Sat" radio, theres nothing!! Unless you like Hip Hop or talk radio, or Lite rock! I ll pass I have 6 Xms and 1 Sirius, its worth every dime! My mom is 74, loves Xm and the 40s and 50 s channel!! Shes on SSI and financially embarressed, so i got her a MY FI and she has her XM in her car!! Today on XM Terry had "The Sweet 16" countdown , you would never hear " A Thousand Stars' by Kathy Young and the Innocents on terrestrial!! Im thrilled that I pay, and guaranteed no "Format change" you go to bed wake up and XM is still on, not like CBS selling out or going to a Movin Format!! I would pay whatever the price is! After years of "Repetitive KFRC" XM and Sirius do it for me! In fact the priceis no issue, Real Radio, cant put a price on it!!!! Kenny in Concord

Sirius Channels have deeper playlists than any Commercial Station. Just take a few minutes to compare them.
As far as repeats. If you like a particular song or a particular song is more popular than another, why wouldn't you want to hear it more? I'd much rather hear "Start Me Up" by the Stones more often than an album cut nobody's hardly heard before! More people will listen to the hits than the "B" sides!! I'm sure there are more listeners to Sirius Classic Vinyl 14 than to 16 The Vault. I like both!!

Hey Keef,, maybe your cash strapped, Im able to pay your bill for a month, I believe in Satelite and for the record, Terrestrial radio is "dead on the vine" who wants 7 commercials and 2 songs then some dumb morning show wasting time with non sense chatter!! Phlash Phelps is a great morning show, XM is my favorite morning show!! After years of Dean and Cammy KFRC, Im really satisfied with Sat radio!! I would not get into a car with out it!! In the Bay Area where i live more and more businesses are playing XM , The 7-11 on Civic dr. in Walnut Creek Calif. where I go always has the 60 s channel on!! Why, because there is no Oldies !! CBS / infinity radio you lost alot of listeners!! Kenny in Concord 6 Xms and 1 sirius,, Real radio is back!!!!!

Yes and the commercials are ridiculous!!!

WHO WANTS TO PAY $$$$$$$$$$ TO HEAR SPAM ADS?? (Basically what they are!!)

what?? you have to be kidding. or a clear channel employee ;D right now i am listning to black sabbath--heaven and hell. that song is never played on fm radio. i have heard today..motorhead, slayer, deicide, morbid angel shooter jennings, hank 3..some really old loretta lynn that wasnt a hit...none of this music is on fm..anywhere! now go back to that board and quit typing on a message board. your pd is gonna get upset :D

Yeah they have the same # of songs in their playlists as FM stations!! NOT!!!!!!!!! What are you smoking? The oldies decades channels (5,6, 7 and 8) on Sirius each offer over 700 titles in regular rotation and 100s more in specials, so we are looking at 3000 plus songs for us oldies fans, yeah you get that on FM....NOT!!!!!!! Yeah you will hear Start Me Up everyday on Rolling Stones radio, because it is one of their biggest and most requested hits, but you also get thrown in over 400 other Stones cuts..what regular radio station does that? You do pay for what you get- and Free radio is just that- not worth alot!!! Enjoy!!!! Sirius & XM offers formats that regular radio wont even deal with.....where are you going to hear Reggae, Classical, Standards, Jazz, Outlaw Country, New Wave, and others in most USA markets? You arent!! Enjoy the regular radio...youre a dying breed!!

I'm sorry to say, but this post is a bunch of crap.
Sirius is a great SERVICE to pay for.
Enough said.
and someone please lock down this topic.

I'm Brand New to Satellite Radio. I just got Sirius last week. It took me a year to hop on Board. But now that I have I love it. Much better than commercial Radio.

Im a big fan of Sirius, last month i got my first reciever tuned to Sirius Gold i as sold! I cancelled 2 XMs I had, XM didnt have a channel dedicated to 55 to 64 like Sirius! I just got it installed at Circuit City, in my 06 Chevy Silverado, Its the one that is compatible with my factory radio no reciever mounted on the dash! Sirius plays the Duke of Earl, The Chantels, and songs that XM wasnt doing! I find Sirius has a bigger playlist, XM only goes deep on the sweet 16 counydown and the 60s channel lseems to focus on late 60 s, Im sold on the Sirius gold !!! Satelite radio is where its at Terrestrial radio is "Out to Lunch"!! Oh by the way yesterday Etta James on Sirius gold!!! Life is Good, So I dis agree with the person who started this Subject!!! Tune in!! Kenny in Concord

Hey, welcome to Sirius, but a year? I have had Sirius since May 2002, over 4 years.....you only heard of it a year ago?

AZ Joe, when i 1st heard about XM I said i would never pay for radio ! I was stuck on KFRC and took what they dished out! After getting XM, then really getting hooked I was introduced to Sirius last month, my son told me about the Sirius Gold , I went to Circuit City in Concord listened to the Sirius display, and heard "Maybe" by the Chantels, then "At my front Door" The ELdoradoes i was sold, they have exactly what i wanted! Im keeping XM for Wolfman Jack and Phlash Phelps! No price is too high for what these two give me!! I was a fool to not go Satelite long ago! I have freinds of mine who will never pay, What Terrestrial radio puts out they should pay us for having to listen to it!! After 10 years of terrible morning shows Phlash Phelps is like a breath of fresh air!! Thats my story and Im stickin to it!! Once again the person who started this subject, your way off!! Kenny in Concord Calif.

[EDIT-Post Removed-Inflammatory]

More like an employee of a terrestrial radio station. I have a friend who is a jock for a radio station chain, and he hates XM & Sirius for the only reason it represents a threat to his job. I asked him what his station does better than sat radio- he cant answer.... case closed.
