Sirius free preview?

Are there any free previews for Sirius going on? I was not aware that they did free previews on the Sirius side, yet my radio is working. And by working, I mean in full. All stations can be heard. And I am definitely not paying for it. I have not paid for it at all since the trial. I just turned it on and it was working. Pretty nice, but it seems a little strange to me.

My car Sirius 'free preview' ended promptly without so much as even showing "updating channels" like it did when it started the free trial - it simply has only one channel and the phone number. Dead as a doornail.

Mine has been playing happily since at least September 17th when I accidentally turned on satellite instead of switching to AM. It was most likely active before the 17th, but was completely dead for pretty much the entire year otherwise. I know it was not working last month and I have not subscribed at all beyond the trial. So... who knows.

I completely missed the official free preview that ended on the 11th. I did not find out about it until this week when I tried to see why my radio was active.

I would anticipate another 10day-14day free preview XM / Sirius just before Thanksgiving to show off the Christmas channels and so that the plug-n-play SXM radios in the stores (BestBuy) actually have several channels to show off on BlackFriday and shopping days then.

Fired-up my ancient Orbiter and Xact radio, and NEITHER would work on the preview. That each sat on CH184 forever. I called SXM and talked to the robot and they said the ESN's are invalid - so what does that mean, they're too old to work?

My free service finally died yesterday. During the time I was reminded why I have never subscribed. Awful sound quality, poor music selection, and extreme voice tracking. I have since returned to using Slacker in my car as my primary music source. $4 per month for better sound quality and better variety. Caching works without an internet connection. Unless you subscribe for the non-music content, I don't know why anyone pays for SiriusXM's poor music offerings.

Half the reason why I subscribe is for the music. If you switch from channel to channel it makes sense.

If I could get a data plan on my phone for $4/month, I'd take it, but XM's $14/month is a lot less than $50 /month for the killjoys at Verizon - and you still can't use it 24/7 either, even at that rate. So SXM is the better bargain if the audio was worth a crap again, and they programming was what it was 6 years ago, I'd be thrilled.

I would give serious consideration to subscribing if they reverted to the old days of XM. The sound quality is a bummer, but I could live with it if necessary. But I need variety in my music channels. I don´t want to be able to hear the same songs day after day, which I unfortunately did with Sirius.

I remember how XM used to be marketed as near cd quality. What happened to those days? :(
