sirius hardware drought?

I've been looking for a receiver for my parents who live in the sticks of WV... but most places i go have "back order" or "out of stock" on a majority of the hardware I want to purchase.

Is this a halo effect of Stern? Did sirius underestimate demand?

I dont understand this so called hardware shortage.
Am I the only one who knows Ebay exists?
I purchased one 2 weeks before x mas,for about $40 less than retail.
on 1/22/06 at 2:10 pm a search for "sirius sportster" returned 217 items:

thats just for 1 specific type of sirius radio..search around fellas,there are plenty of radios to go around.

Try truck stops- they are usually well stocked

Absolutely. There has been a massive shortage of Sirius SKUs across major electronics stores and even a lot of larger online/catalog retailers because of huge Xmas sales. The reason for that was... simply... Howard Stern. I don't listen to him personally, but his drawing power is undeniable.

Stock is returning in major chains over the last 7-10 days.

Not only was December Sirius' best month ever, it was at least 15 times better than any other month in its history.

I know they're all over ebay and craigslist, ect.; but my personal prerogative is to buy something of this nature NIB.
