Sirius hits one... Would it work on terrestrial

Its a very Modern Rock/Punk leaned station,, but also a very new music intensive station. I love it,, but I hate that they repeat the weekend countdown all weekend,, this definately wouldnt work on terretrial. I think its a better station than 20 on 20, even though they sometimes simulcast, I dont like the listener controlled and repititious idea of 20 on 20.. Kiss XM is good, and very rythmic and dance leaning, and they have a mixshow which is a big plus,, they only drawback here is no DJs.

Hits 1 SUCKS! If you want the hits late, and the flops first... oh, and not playing the big rhythmic songs - go to Hits 1... Hits 1 would work on FM ONLY IF it was the only CHR within 100 miles... oh, and Kiss XM does have DJ's. :)

I like their alternative lean,, its something different,, but I wish my package had a Rhythmic,, or a rhythmic leaning CHR.. cause I think The Heat Sucks,, it leans R&B, and plays very little hip hop,, and no dance/pop product aside from Rhianna.. Is their anyway to get a package with JUST SIRIUS, NOT XM,, thats what I have,, where I can get Kiss and pop 2k,, I got Sirius mostly for the Dance channels,, Area,, or its called Electric Area now, and BPM, and i have no complaints with them,, but they need a 3rd channel so they can dedicate all house on one channel, and all trance on another.

Midwest, I totally agree. Luckily, I have XM so the only Sirius channels I don't get are Stern and some of the Sirius-exclusives. But, I get The Heat and all those PLUS KISS, MIX, POP2K, and etc... XM is the way to go. I think you'd like KISS-XM... very dance and rhythmic friendly.

Hits 1 plays way too many stiffs, mostly of the cheesy emo-ish and random rock variety, and are regularly late to the game on rhythmic material. I love rock music in general, but CHR should generally have slightly more rhythmic flavor...Bruno Mars at #30 on their playlist? Flo Rida at #32? Rihanna, Far East Movement and Adam Lambert not even in the top 50? I appreciate the effort to break new music, but they go overboard in my opinion, and often with the wrong titles.

106.1 KISS FM Seattle kind of has that strong pop/rock-lean like HITS 1 does, but HITS seems to play a lot of songs that's not aired on terrestrial radio...

I have speculated for a while that XM's 20 on 20 could work on FM in New York or Los Angeles.

Yeah I was thinking it sounded like KBKS and Orlandos XL 106.7...

If you were in a market with a heavy leaning rhythmic CHR, I could easily see a rock-oriented CHR carving some sort of audience. It would probably lean adult with WAAAYYYY to much Nickelback and golds, not enough pop-punk that the 12-24 demo is into now. Example: Hot Topic & Pac Sun stores are more popular than ever.

However, most CHR's these days are lighter on the hip hop than they were 5-10 years ago, so they aren't completely against the rock product and would probably counter program to avoid the competition.

Pop-punk is probably left to become a potential 24/7 sub-format of Alternative or left to high school and college stations. I do love checking out the adds at Sirius 1, WXXL, WIXX, KBKS, KUDD, WHTS, WJIM, WIOG, etc. etc. to hear the pop-rock being added around the nation. Radio Disney even adds the occasional rock sound...3oh!3 and Comic Book Heroes lately (I would count Jonas Brothers in pop-rock).

Mid West Clubber, since you are an Indianan like me, I think you will see that the current rock sound coming from the midwest probably is - in my opinion - the best in the country right now (Ready Set, Every Avenue, Finding Clyde, etc.)

I agree,, In fact I heard your staion on the way to Marion the other day... But Not just becuse im from the Midwest isnt why,, but my two favorite rhythmic leaning CHRs are Radio Now in INDY and WSNX in Grand Rapids... Your station sounded kinda Mordern Rock leaned as well,, but Indiana is short on Rock Leaning CHRs aside from yours, and WBWB in Bloomington...

Also Hot 96 in Evansville is a great ALL HIT CHR station as well.

I really don't listen to much Sirius anymore. I find terrestrial radio more interesting. There was once a phase when I was crazy about chill out / smooth electronica & jazzy house music, but got over that around the end of 2006.
