Sirius iPod?

Months ago Mel Karmazin met with Apple CEO Steve Jobs about the possibility of having Sirius programming in the next generation of Apple iPod. This was a big story last winter, but I have heard nothing since. Does anyone else have any detail about this?

Impasse.

From this article:

"There is also a portable Sirius unit that looks and acts like an iPod by playing radio and MP3s for $329. Sirius satellite service is $12.95 per month. Subscribers can listen through receivers 24-7 online as well."

Well, that's sorta the idea; I'm not sure if this unit actually allows recording of content. I bought the Starmate which allows rewinding/pausing for over an hour on talk formats (which is sorta a step away). If I had an Ipod (do they play the ogg vorbis format?), I would just record the audio on my computer and upload. No biggie. I'm not sure how much being associated with Ipod would improve Sirius' standing, other than the assocaition with the Ipod pedigree. Unless you had Sirius already, what would be the draw? Sirius could set up its own download site for a fee, like Audible. O&A do that. But the audio quality is sh!t. It can be done better-if they think people would pay for the shows and offset the cost of bandwidth.

The Sirius S50 is better then an IPOD. Records satellite radio music and shows, and lets you load your own music.
