Sirius Outage

Has Sirius ever had an outage like XM had this week? The only issue I had was here in Memphis where there was an issue with the terrestrial repeater. The repeater seems to go down at least once a month.

Of course there is a work around when the repeater goes down. Move the antenna where it can pick up the satellite.

no nothing like this with sirius so-far, they also use independent ku-band birds for feeding the repeater network which is another plus.

if sirius lost one bird they lose a third of the daily broadcasting time and they could manage the other two birds to operate longer daily instead of taking each bird offline for eight hours they could extend the broadcasting time by a hour or two with little effort at all

sirius tries to do its up-dates and house keeping during each birds normal daily eight hour down time cycle

and the fourth bird being lauched shortly (2008) will help with just this type of issue in the future

I have had Sirius for 5 years as of this month, and Sirius has never had a glitch or program stoppage such as XM's this week. Then again, XM has only had 2 in that time also.
