Sirius Purchasing ABC Stations?

Rumors are flying about that Sirius may buy the ABC stations for extra cash for their satellite radio operation. If so, will Howard Stern make a return to a few land-based stations?

I would say im suprised about this rumor, but im not. Its been known in broadcast circles that Disney has wanted to unload their radio group for a long time. If it is true, This maybe another coup for sirius over XM. To answer your question about howie: Probably not. He's wanted to enter a non-censored forum for years and sirius is providing that avenue.

Sirius is already swimming in debt from signing Howard...Where are they going to find money to buy several major radio stations?.As the poster below said, I dont see Stern returning to terrestrial radio for censorship reasons.

I Dont See the FCC allowing a Sat Broadcastor to by a Terrestrial Radio Group

Just read a wire report stating emmis broadcasting is looking at selling off its TV arm and buying ABC radios assets.

I Think Emmis will get the ABC Stations if not Infinity or Clear Channel but Sirius has no Shot because i dont think the FCC would Allow it

And why not? There are ways around this. Clear Channel operates and "owns" stations under other company names. Sirius could start up a new company, fund it with some seed money, and spin it off to a separate body (with the existing shareholders owning X amount of shares for each Sirius share they have). Agreements could be made for marketing, programming and other services. Though technically this other company would be separate from Sirius, the bonds would be so close that it would be as if Sirius did own and operate this other company. The FCC couldn't find any problem with that now, could they?

Mark.
