Sirius reception using splitter and CATV cable

I noticed there is a kit available using a system of splitters from Sirius. Has anyone tried using standard power pass splitters normally used in Sat TV applications and if this was successful? I Have some spare/broken antennas that I can harvest the wire from, as well as some f-connectors to modify to connect.

Thoughts?
 
I am using a regular swivel base model antenna placed on top of my flat roof, FYI.
