Sirius/XM 70's on 7 Casey Kasems AT40 getting edited.

I 'm NOT to happy about the way Sirius did with XM's run of AT40 on the 70's on 7 lately,On a couple of other boards , the AT40 fans are not happy campers about the AT40's getting hacked up on the cutting room floor.I have no idea what is wrong with
these people at Sirius.Uncle Mel better look into this one before Sirius/XM loses more
costomers.

Hi, lost of bumper jingles,at40 extras that Casey Played,On the hour these was cut, Closing theme cut after Casey wraps up show was cut.
The 1979 show was a mess last month.I like to know why they are cutting the shows up ,especially on pay radio, this is like HBO cutting an R rated film to make it rated G.

I didn't really noticed too much, but my assumption is that these shows have a habit of ending past the top of the hour, or past the bottom of the hour, due to no commercials. I guess they want a more consistent schedule where one show ends the other begins on the hour.

I never knew a single program played years later that didn't have an edit. Many times it's due to licensing agreements, royalties, etc. If you can't stand a minor edit in the program, don't listen. Easier to do than to feel like you're not getting your money's worth.

I thought about the licensing issue. 1. It started after sirius and xm combined the channels. 2. The edits are random. Sometimes you will hear a Casey's coast to coast jingle and other times you will hear a jingle that says American top 40.

I don't think it has anything to do with getting to the top of the hour or the half. They were closer before. I was listening to a basketball game and turned it over about 24 after to get there in time to hear the number 1 song. Magic Mat was already talking. So I'm guessing that it went off between 10 and 15 after. Without the edits it would have ended anywhere from 29 to 32 after.

I was hoping they would play the intro to the third hour. I'm thinking this may have been the weekend that the station in Nashville may have begun carrying AT40. I would have liked to hear Casey welcome them aboard.

On the 80's channel the play American Top 40 without editing the program. It has nothing to do with anything you said. According to a post on another board who e-mailed the 70's channel the response wes that they wanted the show to run smoother, whatever that means.

Then it did have to do with what I said, never heard a replay of a program that wasn't edited. I offered a few reasons why, not the definitive reasons. There are none definitive per show. You offered another, timing. Sometimes you jut want to update the way a show is heard to make it sound more appealing to the audience now. Sort of like listening to old jokes by comedians. Long stories, not necessarily the way jokes are told now so while teh joke is good, the delivery is old-fashioned.

What's with this: don't listen if you don't like it, and/or if you don't like it leave, or shutup they won't miss you anyway stuff?? I hope you don't work for them because if you do, you certainly aren't doing them any favors. I pay money for this stuff and certainly don't my stuff edited like they do on commercial TV. I can already tell this Sirius move is going to be a bad thing. I've noticed a lot differences in XM over the past few months and haven't liked one of the changes, and your attitude certainly doesn't bode well for the future if you are a spokesman for them.

My suggestion for you is to cancel your sub. You obviously are disliking them more and more and it will only get worse for you so why not save yourself the aggravation.

You speak with the arrogance of a new employee brought in to chop, chop, chop. thanks for answering my question. Now again, why are they cutting shows ala 1968?

They advertise the shows are the way you heard them except without the commercials. This does not say anything about editing. This is false advertising. Why on the 80's channel they do not edit AT40. They also air the Weekly Top 40 with Rick Dees and do not edit the shows. These shows are aired not for people who never heard the shows but mainly for the ones that grew up with the show. If people that never heard AT40 also listen, then it is a bonus.

There is one person responsbile for the edits of the 70's shows that one person should spend his time doing something more productive. The show was never edited for years on XM's 7 channel. Now, the Sirius guy wants to piss everyone off. Edits are always done the most professional way. End of story...

So don't listen to the show. If you hate the way it's presented, then find something else to listen to. Nothing is ever as good as it was when it first aired. So there are some edits. Life will go on, for us at least.

Yes,I agree. If you dont like what they do ,dont listen. My Idea is Dump Sirius/XM ,then tune in terrestrial radio, "Premiere" version.uncut also with extras.and of course, the commercials.

Possible Reason:
i only skimmed over the messages...but,
is it possible, what was said, +25 years ago,
may be left out - out of respect.

lot of icons from that era, are not the best role models...(today)
and easier to bleep out/or change to make it current for today...

Also, on a more serious note; what may be a *funny story then
about michael jackson while be creepy today...

another example:
then:
"you're a regular jackie gleason"
was then said, Now, may be

"you're no dane cook thats for sure..."

with one exception:
death.

if there were a paul harvey interview, (4 example)
maybe (depending on ALOT) of things,
that could/or may not be suitable for aire.

No; I don't think they are editing to content. Most of the edits are things goings in and out of spot breaks. They are better than they were a few months ago but you never get both jingles. You don't get "Casey's coast" going in to "American tot forty." Later on when they had music in the jingles that would fade out the coast jingle and go in to Casey Kasem. It just doesn't sound good.
