Sirius-XM merger update

This is actually pretty funny! Let's see how many VIEWS this thread can acquire simply by continuing to discuss this non-existant update about the merger started by oldvnewschool. ;)

Anyone want to get a pool going? I predict 350 by August 15th.

Actually there is a REAL UPDATE This Time ;D!

A la carte is what Mel and the boys are trying to do.

I like it myself, I can pick the channels I want without all the junk.

I say let it happen. ;D

I got an email from them this morning (actually targeting stock holders) regarding the vote on the merger. And while I understand the reason they would send such an email and why some stock holders would want said email (financial gain), I'm still rather irritated about it. Specifically the line that says
Your vote is very important regardless of the number of shares that you own. Do not underestimate the importance of your vote. We want to hear from all of our 1 million strong individual stockholders. Failure to vote is the same as voting against the merger.

I really hope that when the mean a la carte, they mean that if you subscribe to one package but want both, then you pay a la carte price for the offerings that your service doesn't offer. I hope for that, anyway. I'm just not too happy about giving up the channels I've been used to hearing for almost two years.

Why doesnt one just agree to carry the others programming?? (And give tem 1/2 the profitd they make from listeners on thier side)

That would take care of this!

Well, I may be out in left field on this, because I don't know what bandwidth is available for Sirius or XM satellite transponders, but too many channels could lead to a lag in service, or poor reception or audio quality.

Just a thought.
