Sirius XM Radio's Dance channels: Who will stay or go?

Thats the billion dollar question there. As of this posting one has wonder about who will be cut from the lineup, so here's my theory of who will be a keeper and who will be sent packing:

Sirius Satellite Radio
Area 38 (could stay)
The Beat (merge into BPM)
Boombox (stay)
The Strobe (goner)
Sirius Chill (goner)

XM Radio
BPM (Stay, merge with The Beat)
Chrome (Stay)
The Move (Online now, but could stay)
The System (might stay, unless Worldspace says something)
XM Chill (stay)

Personally thats just my opinion but like most people who's been following this merge its wait and see.

I had written this up on my MySpace blog.

Being that Mel Karmazin is the main man with this merger (since he heads Sirius), this is what I see happening.....

Area 38, The Strobe, Chill (Sirius), Boombox stays. My biggest fear is that The Beat STAYS, to which for fans that don't know better....they'll be happy, but for core dance fans such as ourselves it would be a HUGE mistake! BPM is CLEARLY the better of the two satellite stations covering dance music hits and I'd want to see that station represented...NOT "The Beat".

If I have to talk to Mr. Karmazin personally, I'll do so. :)

I you read what the big guy said while on the Stern show. Both companies are going to run independent for awhile. There will be some packages that subscribers can get that will have certain channels from the other company. I dont see the headquarters moving to Washington, especially Stern as top dog at Sirius. Im just excited that I might be able to have the total sports package.

They have already stated that there will be seperate offices in the respective cities, for now. ;)

I hope they do announce what the real packages will be soon as I'd like to get the combined package but I have a feeling that it won't be until the holiday season so they can sell lots of new receivers.

You wont need a new receiver. They can reprogram the receivers with an update. Mel said on Stern that you will be able to keep your receiver. I know Stern will be available on XM soon. They are talking about a package of about $4 more a month for the other brands programming.

My hunch?

Sirius - The Beat and The Strobe will stay - EVERYTHING else will go "bye-bye" :(
XM - XM Chill will stay - EVERYTHING else goes (I tend to think that BPM will MERGE with The Beat also... 8))

But again, as I've said on other threads with this Sirius-XM Merger, it's also gonna partly depend on WHO, if ANYBODY, that they're gonna want to STAY with these particular stations...

I'd expect every station to be merged to eliminate any duplication regardless of the format. They will be in a "serious" slashing mode for the next couple of months. The idea, as I see it, will be to combine the "best" elements of the two, eliminate the rest and then they will sell it off to someone willing to overpay all the while saying, it's just business. I'm thinking that at this point, if they haven't announced your name to the press as being an executive, you might want to have a resume at the ready.

I have an XM receiver that was factory-installed in my car. If I choose "XM everything plus 10 Sirius", will my car radio be able to pick up Radio 1, (Sirius 11)? If so, then I'm very happy about the merger.

The "happy" medium.....

Whatever the new channel is called (from "The Beat" or "BPM")....you still keep it current intensive (as it is with "BPM") but add on some of the recent recurrents (as it is with "The Beat"); just don't go to one extreme. And yeah, keep on the mixshows from both sides.
