Siriusxm Car Radio Suddenly Without Howard Sterns Channels 100 & 101

I am a SiriusXM subscriber and I own two lifetime subscriptions.

Last November I purchased a new car with a SiriusXM radio that came with a 3-month trial. The trial included all the SiriusXM channels, including Howard Stern's channels 100 & 101. After the trial ended in February 2020, I transferred one of my licences to my new car. The transfer worked flawlessly and all my channels were intact.

Everything was peachy until this morning when I attempted to listen to Howard Stern channel 100. Instead of getting the channel, my media screen displayed a message telling me that channel 100 was not available and to call SiriusXM to subscribe to it. Upon further investigation I discovered that channels 100 and 101 were no longer even listed in the channel guide. All the rest of the channels I listen to are still working.

After multiple calls to SiriusXM and talking to several 'technicians' (...ha ha ha...) the upshot was no one could figure out why only those two channels have disappeared from my radio. One tech tried to refresh my SiriusXM, which didn't work. Another tech tried to get me to find either 'explicit content' or 'parental control' functions in the setup menu that I could then turn off, but neither of these function exist in my car's media center.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, were you able to resolve the problem, and if so, how?

Thanks -

Zando

Pretty sure that SXM moved the Stern and other channels like NFL channel 88 to their Premium service. The old "Lifetime" subscriptions were moved to a basic plan.

...also, the lifetime subscriptions were for the lifetime of the radio.

Not entirely true...

Through some legal wrangling about a decade ago, you can transfer a lifetime license to a maximum of three radio serial numbers (the original radio plus two transfers). I don't recall, but there may be a transfer fee to do this. Still cheaper than a monthly plan...

The problem is that these "lifetime" licensees purchased it (in many cases) for sports play-by-play or Stern back in 2006. Moving these folks out of the premium category a few years back had to really ruffle some feathers. And I doubt you can pay an extra fee for a lifetime upgrade for your lifetime radio...be prepared to shell out probably $10/month for the privilege of having Stern or other premium channels.

Do you get the vivid radio and jazz channels with the lifetime package?
