Report: SiriusXM Facing Layoffs As Subscriber Growth Slows.
SiriusXM is reportedly facing layoffs as the satellite broadcaster deals with slowing auto sales, which is the main source of its subscriber base from its free trial offers, and a
Lol, it actually is. SXM had their free period from I believe 11/23 - 12/5 this year, so ya got 2 more days!Wonder if that "Free" SXM holiday offer will be there *this* year?
Same. It's not that I don't appreciate the content, but to me the audio quality is so bad that it makes it nearly unlistenable. Music stations sound thin and flat and talk stations sound worse than most any AM station I've heard.Currently own three vehicles with receivers, and zero activations.
Pretty sure that includes full time and part time employees, which include part time 'personalities' that voice track out of their homes."The company employed a workforce of 5,590 employees at the end of 2021."
SXM's technical department(s) is run pretty lean, considering how many locations they have. How many of those are actually responsible for putting audio (okay, a digital signal...) out there for subscribers to listen to? Half that number?
It likely includes a lot of customer service staff members, although most of that is subcontracted out to India and the Philippines. But there is a lot of higher level customer staff for account management and problem resolution.Pretty sure that includes full time and part time employees, which include part time 'personalities' that voice track out of their homes.
Who does the maintenance on the ground repeaters in shadow areas and in high-rise building zones? Is that also sub-contracted?SXM's technical department(s) is run pretty lean, considering how many locations they have.
Yes that's contracted out. Can't remember the name of the company who takes care of those. NYC, D.C. and Atlanta had very small in-house maintenance staff's, destined to get even smaller over time.Who does the maintenance on the ground repeaters in shadow areas and in high-rise building zones? The content is actually decent, but the sound quality is poor. It's always been like that even before XM and Sirius merged...Lol, it actually is. SXM had their free period from I believe 11/23 - 12/5 this year, so ya got 2 more days!

I remember the debates about the sound quality in the now-defunct XM forums. There were a few hi-fi enthusiasts who insisted that the sound quality could be a lot better than it was. As for me, I was pleased with the sound quality of the music channels, which was certainly better than that of FM radio. I don't know how it is now since I no longer have a satellite radio receiver, but in the 2000s, the sound quality was very good. The content is actually decent, but the sound quality is poor.
