SiriusXM radio problem in 2016 Kia Soul

I'm not sure if this is even the right place, as I don't think it's, strictly speaking, a SiriusXM problem as it affects the entire radio/bluetooth/UVO system, but we seem to have Sirius XM on in my wife's car more than anything else, that's where it's noticed.

The unit works fine for about 30-45 minutes. Any longer than that, it sends itself in a reload/reboot cycle. That kills satellite radio, regular radio, bluetooth and the backup camera. We've tried the reset and some other tips I've seen online. Odd that it works fine until it's on longer than 30-45 minutes.

I would think there's a way to download updates, like everything else in the world.

The easiest thing to do is remove the fuses which power the radio. Remember to remove the one for the memory as well. Hopefully, that will totally reboot the radio and will cure the problem. Leave it depowered with the fuses out for about 10 minutes.

Off-hand, it sounds like a thermal problem to me. Since, it sounds as though you use the SXM part of the radio more often, it may appear to you it is only in that section. An internal power supply problem would affect the whole box.

If it is still under warranty, bring it to the dealership and have them replace the radio, otherwise, a repair may not be cost effective. Maybe look at an aftermarket upgrade.

A software upgrade would be an option, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't fix it.

Thanks Jeff. I'm not sure if that's covered under whatever part of the warranty we're in. Yes, the problem affects the entire box, bluetooth and AM/FM, even the backup camera. I don't know if there's an aftermarket that would do all of that. There are some junkyard replacements, apparently

My antique 2012 Honda Odyssey has a problem that I can only describe as being "similar but different".
The screen goes blank and then three of the four source buttons (AM/FM, CD, Bluetooth) work, but the SXM button does nothing. I turn the key OFF and ON, and then everything is fine. I hope this does not begin to occur more frequently.

Your car should still be under warranty. Take it to the Stealership and ask them to fix/replace the radio.
