SiriusXM has collaborated with acclaimed and iconic artists and their representatives to create personally curated audio experiences for listeners everywhere. The collection of exclusive music channels launching on Friday, May 1 -- and in conjunction with SiriusXM's extended Stream Free period through May -- are dedicated to megastars David Bowie, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, George Strait, Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Prince, and The Rolling Stones.

The free streaming period had been set to end May 15. Now it will be May 31. What SiriusXM is not saying is whether the channels being taken over by this paid programming will return to their normal schedules afterward. There is no lack of consternation on the channels' Facebook pages, with SXM's monitors erasing most criticism within hours of its being posted. As a fan of a couple of the affected channels, I'm hoping the move is temporary and, perhaps, a way for SXM to force a bunch of employees to go on unpaid vacation for a month and save the company some money.

I haven't heard of any layoffs or furloughs at Sirius. That doesn't mean they're not happening. The biggest loser in their group now is Live Nation.

Will they all be satellite channels or exclusive on-line channels?
