Sirott + 94.7

According to a recent Feder column, Bob Sirott is quoted as saying he would be open to the idea of doing mornings on ZZN. It looks as if his contract at WTTW-TV is not going to be renewed after it expires Jan. 1, 2006.

...could a call-sign change to RCK be on the horizon then? (at least I think that's what 94.7 was badged when Sirott was there). Or am I thinking BBM-FM? I don't know...those 14 innings have fried my brain, off to sleep I go....

It was WRCK for the two months that Sirott was there on the air.

When they flipped to WRCK in June 1980, Sirott was still sitting out his WLS non-compete (the AM and FM were separately managed back then and I guess Gehron considered the FM his competition). He was allowed to do a daily commentary and started in morning drive on Labor Day of that year. Two months later, he got a national TV gig and exercised his out option. ABC then gave the FM to Gehron, who basically made the FM sound like the AM, with more rockers, and simulcasted Lujack and Brant Miller.
