Sirott

According to Feder's column in the Sun Times, Bob Sirott is headed to WGN radio. He will do a new version of the Noon Show from noon till 1:OO PM, before he heads to his news anchor duties at channel 5.

I can't wait! I'm sure he'll do agreat job! I also saw that heand his wifewill do a Sunday night show. I wonder how they will rearrange the schedule.

What a goofy move for WGN.

Once Sirott gets on a station he wants to get involved in every thing and then gets overexposed. I can hear it now, he'll be on Rick Kogin, on Spike O'dell, with the "girls" and maybe even on Sports Central!

The next thing we know, he'll be on the Cubs broadcasts. That's when I will become a Sox Fan.

I hope he does more preparation then what he did for Chicago Tonight. The way I heard it, he needed more support than a painting crew.

The "brain trust" at WGN is anything but goofy. They operate one of the HIGHEST BILLING radio stations in the United States. What they do, works. So will this.

Whether or not you like Sirott and/or WGN, his combined daily function which has him as a news anchor will make his radio show interesting. Sirott has in the past injected a lot of personality and some humor in his radio work. So how "fun" can he be when he will then be presenting hard news on television 4 hours later?

And if his WGN Radio show will be more of a news or serious slant, it might not catch on with listeners expecting to hear more of a personality at that time of the day. After all, it's no longer Orion Samuelson with the hog futures. It will be, as he used to say it, "the man whose initials tell the story".

Let's work this out here....
Spike said he is probably going to retire in 2009.
Williams or Cochran will move to mornings (my money is on Williams)
That opens an afternoon / evening slot.
Sirott slides into the open slot.

Just thinking out loud here...

JGrandt,
That was the most thougtful post I've read on this collection of goofballs in a long time. Thanks

We all need a little "BS" in our lives -- I'll listen to WGN.
