Sitcoms filmed outside of LA or NYC

Nickelodeon sitcoms Clarrissa Explains it All and My Brother & Me (only one season but Nick still ran the same 13 episodes for years) and maybe some others were taped at Universal Studios Florida before the production industry left there
Tyler Perry's shows are filmed in Atlanta
Burt Reynolds' Evening Shade was filmed at Universal Studios Florida

Sitcoms - even most one camera sitcoms - are almost completely shot in studio. It doesn't matter where they are filmed. A few have outside shooting - MASH on the Fox Ranch in Malibu and Andy Griffith on 40 Acres in Culver City, for example. Mostly, they don't venture out even as far as their own back lots. So, to the audience it doesn't matter. A sitcom is only shot elsewhere for the convenience of talent with clout (or maybe some huge tax break).

It's only in the last decade or so that New York reemerged as a major player in sitcom production.

Was 'Kate and Allie' filmed, as well as set, in New York?
I know that 'The Cosby Show' was filmed in NY at Cosby's insistence, because he had just decided to leave Hollywood.

The Game was originally filmed in Los Angeles when it aired on CW, but when it moved to BET, they moved it to Atlanta. I just wish they had kept the same sets from when it was done in Los Angeles but it got all new sets.

There used to be a time when a whole lot of TV production took place in Toronto and Vancouver....back when the US Dollar stretched a lot further "north of the border".

That advantage pretty much evaporated once the Canadian Dollar got close to parity with our own Dollar.

Lots of dramas were filmed in Canada but how many sitcoms?

I recall the second season of "The Baxters," Norman Lear's audience-participation sitcom experiment, was taped in Canada with a different cast, which included Megan Follows.

Dick Van Dyke's early-'70s sitcom was filmed in Arizona because,
at the time, he was living in the Phoenix suburb of Carefree, and
I think it was filmed there for the first two seasons, when he played
a local talk-show host in Phoenix (shades of his real-life days in Atlanta
in the '50s). I know that the third season (the show's last) was filmed
in L.A.; the format was changed to where Van Dyke's character, Dick
Preston, had taken a job as an actor on a soap opera. Richard Dawson,
BTW, played his neighbor during that last season.

Kate and Allie was filmed at the Ed Sullivan Theater with one or two location scenes in each show.

Kate And Allie was videotaped at a studio in the Astoria area of Queens. I think WFAN-AM 660 was in the same area once.

Wasn't the 1977-78 CBS sitcom "On Our Own" also taped
at the Ed Sullivan Theater? I know that at the time it was
the only primetime fictional series originating in New York,
but I'm not sure if it originated at the Ed Sullivan Theater
or the CBS Broadcast Center.

Brian Keith's 1972-74 NBC sitcom, "The Little People" (retitled
"The Brian Keith Show"), was filmed in Hawaii; for those who've
forgotten, he played a Honolulu-based pediatrician.

It would have been nice but whenever a show is cancelled the sets are usually destroyed. The show was off the air for 2 years before moving to BET. Not to mention they had to work under a new budget which is why the production is not the same. TBS sitcom Are We There Yet was filmed at the Connecticut Film Center in Stamford, Connecticut

...indeed, On Our Own was taped in New York; David Susskind's production company made the show while Susskind's talk show was being produced for Metromedia's WNEW-TV/5...
