Quite literally! You have to die to make news there! Old djs (that I have never heard of) die, and make news over there!

But the SM95 site is even "deader" (if that is even a word!) than the "nashradio" yahoo groups page! They only get activity on their site when one of their core artists dies.

I guess all the broadcasters in the Nashville are making enough money that no one want to make any changes.

Cumulus is making so much money in Nashville, they can afford to "trade" 97.1 for a signal in market #97 Mobile AL !

Sounds like you don't know a lot about the pay of Nashville broadcasters. There aren't many left, and those that are are working from home or less than 32 hours

Probably me and most of my old radio friends are people you never heard of, but we tried to pave the way for those who follow. Technology won

In fairness to some of those "old" guys, I should point out that I have lived in Nashville for "only" 20 years! Has it been that long already?

I have to admit, this deal is a bit interesting. Wonder what the retail value of RQQ would be today if sold at today's rates (I think multiples are a thing of the past)... They basically would be paying that rate for 97.5 WABB in Mobile. EMF paid about $3 M for it earlier this year. The Dittman family decided to sell to a non-comm instead to one of the C's. I would think Crums had stated their interest somewhere down the line to the family after Bernie Dittman passed away. They have to be excited about this turn of events. ;) WABB was a solid CHR for many years, with a great signal that covered as far west as Ft. Walton Beach. But, no matter what, that Mobile, Pensacola market is way over radioed. Rates are low. Competition is off the charts. EMF wanted Nashville and waited it out. Pretty impressive move. If I owned shares of Crums, I'd be wondering where my (guessing) $8-$10-$15M was for RQQ (or whatever it's really worth). Certainly WABB is not worth $10M. I guess there was no possible buyers left? I guess the logic is one less active advertiser on the streets adds up.
Maybe not such a bad deal after all? MYbe I should stop guessing?
