Sixties Top 40 in DC

MsMusicRadio said:
I know I heard them at night because I remember the Topp's Drive-in commercials, but I just don't remember a city grade signal. If they had a major signal over DC, what brought WRC into the mix?

WRC's MOR format died, and they tried Top 40. They did not do a very good job of it, and the 980 signal was not all that much better than WEAM.

The 1390 night signal was good everywhere except the Silver Spring / Bethesda /ROckville area, which explains why WINX did so well in that area despite the market's worst signal... and owner. Although Thoms' manager was no prize, either. Both were poster children for eliminating small group owners altogether.
