SIXX SENSE with Nikki Sixx & Kerri Kasem

So what do you think about the Premiere Radio Networks (a wholly owned subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications) new syndicated show with Nikki Sixx and Kerri Kasem ? ? ?

http://www.sixxsense.com/main.html

I really don't like the idea of "Big Media" deciding what a chain of stations across the country need to be playing for teens and youth. Uhhh, that's what AM Top 40 was all about. I though we'd moved on from that.

But what goes around comes around.

If this is the "fruit" of what the FCC and Telecommunications Act of 1996 brings us ... then I'll pass. So much for "local" music programming.

But this is the world we live in.... Paris Hilton, et al, telling us what we should be listening to.

Vapidity exponentialized.

And the huddled masses cheer on !!

It's actually a Public Service, when you think about it.... where else can you listen to national adds for tattoo removal with such credibility.

I'll tell ya.... those govt. social engineers really got their fingers in our rock music pie!

Huh? What are you talking about?

What's the difference between this syndicated radio show and MTV or the Disney channel adding a song to their playlist? Or YOU adding a song to your list? Everyone wants to be the tastemaker, and tell people who they should listen to. The reality is that the public will take this and all other lists with a grain of salt, and listen to what THEY like. If they agree with Nikki Sixx, then they'll accept his point of view. But no one, not Clear Channel or anyone else, is forcing anyone to listen to or like anything.

No one is forcing youths to look at pornography either... ! ! !

That's right. So what's you're point? Where are their parents? Parenting is not the job of radio or the media. It's the job of parents.

He wasn't complaining about people being made to listen to the show.

He WAS complaining about STATIONS being made to carry the show.

That is their (the stations's) loss. They are stuck with Premiere in many cases, especially if they are owned by ClearChannel or the companies that spun off from it.

Stations aren't made to carry the show. Lots of CC rock stations don't carry it. His compaint is not based in any form of fact. He'd have more of a case complaining about Disney and Miley Cyrus.

It's just another show on a network you either listen to it or you don't... And I assume that Clear Channel doesn't force their stations to carry every show they syndicate... The major television networks have done the song and dance with local affiliates for years and despite their best efforts a lot of shows are not seen in many markets....

I haven't heard Nikki's show but generally well spoken rockers do tend to put out an entertaining show... Alice Coopers show is almost always good, and here in Seattle Duff McKagen will do a hour or two on KISW from time to time and the stories he tells and the people (fellow rockers) who call in as guests make you want to listen for hours...

People like to know what famous people think and like, mostly so they can bitch about it later, but some actually care either way as long as they listen it is a win win....
