I think that's what makes them so listenable. Has that incredible "oh wow" factor that I love ... and Bob Brooks is doing an awesome job of even rolling in some currents (heard a Michael Buble/Nelly Furtado remake of Quando.. last night).
I raised this question because I think there is a strong parallel between what they are doing and their success (albeit with unpopular sales demos) and the discussion about oldies libraries being miniscule compared to the potential. Yes, I know the cuts in oldies land are researched to death ... but I'll NEVER buy into a limited library of OLD, familiar that is rotated for 30 years will always be better than "variety" for those with slightly more ... uh ... discerning tastes.
Other thing that KIXI "gets" is the relatable personality thing. Doesn't matter if live or tracked ... it works for me. For example, was busting gut when J.Morton plows into a PSA for spay/neuter and accidentally makes a reference to get "your" spay/neuter ... realizes the reference and launches into a whole "why not ask for a two-fer...probably cheaper under your health plan" and all sorts of other stuff. Turned a dull :20 into a funny bit. How many "liner readers" can pull that sort of thing off?? Think most would delete the track (assuming they care enough to do that detail) and just redo the PSA as intended....
