Skip in Ct Today

There is a pretty significant e-skip opening going on this evening and from what I've been told it started this afternoon. Just in the last hour driving around the Hartford area I got positive IDs on the following stations:

88.9 WQCS, Palm Beach, FL
91.1, WAQU Selma, AL
91.1, KSMU, "Ozarks Public Radio" Springfield, Missouri
98.5, KTJJ "The Boot" Farmington, Missouri
101.5, WJHM, "Jamz 102" Orlando, FL
105.3 WTJS-FM, Jackson, TN

The slogans in quote were displayed on the RDS in the car!
These openings don't happen too often so if you read this Tues evening, 7/28, try tuning around the FM dial and let us know what you are hearing.

My friend called me on his evening commute home and we were listening to another station from Florida on the upper end of the FM dial. If I can recall the calls I'll post them, but I don't remember them off hand.

you guys were not the only ones with the Skip. southern ME has it too! something was taking over 94.3 WCYY pretty good. I could not get a call letter for you tho, My GF would have killed me if I stopped and tried(FOS)

Half the country is affected by every e-skip opening, not just Connecticut. It's better to talk about e-skip on the DX board than on a local market board.

Hi Nick,
Actually, e-skip is more of a regional phenomena although sometimes more than one region of the country is effected at the same time.
My intent was just to let people in CT know that the band was open to this area so that they might get a chance to listen to some distant stations.

Man some add about Topeka Furnature on 106.9 near the New Haven Tunnel around 5:45. and then playing clock robbin ..
on 98.9 KQRC OVER WPLR here at the 1st rest area heading south after the tunnel I am getting kansas city Rock station so I can only figure the 106.9 is also from Kansas!
Kick ass!

http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=KTPK&service=FM&status=L&hours=U - Over WCCC here on Rt 15 Wilbur Cross

I got WDRC-FM down here in Central Jersey over WMGK from 7:30 Saturday till just 20 minutes ago, along with a bunch of CT stations (100.5, Kiss 957, Kool 101 etc).

I had one of the ends of the dipole tied to a lamp in my room to keep the signal steady, and the headphone cord from the radio (Accurian HD unit) also acted as an antenna.

I'm now envious of the great radio you guys have up there - only thing that I winced at was Delilah on 100.5 WRCH.

You would have enjoyed the Saturday Night Sock Hop on 92.1 WLNG, it was coming in with no static while driving around all evening.

C,mon, you're kidding right? Radio here is pretty awful in general. Which station(s) are you refering to specifically?

WDRC-FM, WTIC-FM & WKNL-FM all sounded good to me, WDRC especially. Only thing that stuck out was it seemed that the jingle weren't rotating properly on DRC. I'd hear the same jingle cut twice in a row sometimes - one would be the full sing, another would be the same with the V/O guy reading a liner over it and just a tag or something similar. But that could be fixed in Linker or just shuffling the rotator cart the jingles are on. Aside from that, what I heard sounded really great. Made me wish DRC-FM streamed again.

Not the Jersey radio is terrible mind you, but there's only a few diamonds in the rough down here.

Ok, I think you probably found 3 of the best in the area :) I'm just glad CBS-FM streams, but I'm going off-topic here.
