Skip Murphy to Replace Michael Baisden on Majic 107-5

According to All Access, Skip Murphy, a veteran of Urban radio in Charlotte, Dallas and New York as well as a co-host on BET, will replace Michael Baisden on many of Baisden's former affiliates. It's a joint product of Cumulus Media Networks and Reach Media.

Majic 107-5/97-5 has confirmed it will carry the show in afternoon drive, starting on April 1.

I think this is a missed opportunity for Majic 107.5/97.5- who has more than the needed resources to go local in afternoon drive, and IMO is a better choice than putting an unfamiliar voice to the air in a key daypart.

Skip is said to be a temporary replacement.

Looks like the website is now updated to include Skip Murphy in the lineup (including BIO and picture).

I think this will hurt MAJIC's ratings considering they didn't warn listeners of a new show. From what I hear so far, it's a morning show style show with lots of talk despite what the press release said. Stations in Miami, Orlando and DC are some of the cities that decided to go local.

I listened for a while and found the content lacking compared to Baisden. It sounded like they were playing a lot more music than Baisden. I agree it does sound like a morning show. Baisden did not sound like a morning show. His show was issues driven.

His show is okay, but I wonder how he will stack up against Art Terrell at Kiss who is local...
