Sky in Batesville

Just got back from a long holiday weekend visiting in-laws in Batesville. (I live about 500 miles away.) I'm curious about "Sky 99.5." I listened to it much of the weekend, and heard songs I hadn't heard on the radio in more than 20 years. The production values weren't tremendous, but the music was even more diverse than any of the Jack stations I've heard.

Does anyone know more about it? Is this clever music programming, or just throwing all the CDs into a hard drive?

Speaking of those Batesville stations, don't they have a new classic country-AC hybrid running up there too? I've always liked The Max a lot, haven't heard Sky. What were some of the songs?

Sky 99.5 is the most eclectic AC I have ever heard in my life. You'll hear songs like Abba's Fernando or Smokey Robinson's version of Crusin' mixed in with a few of today's hits. I hear a little Rock The Boat every once in a while.

KIX 106.5 is a very interesting hybrid. They will play three pop oldies... then three country classics.... then three pop oldies... you might hear Bennie and The Jets and Amarillo By Morning within fifteen minutes of each other. A girl I um.. went to college with lives in Mountain View and she tells me that station is all they listen to up there.

I would love to have either the 103.3 or 93.1 signals.... they come in EVERYWHERE.....

The one that sticks in my mind -- that even woke me up in the motel room the other night -- was Joe Jackson's "You Can't Get What You What (Till You Know What You Want)." I loved that one when I was in college (20-plus years ago), and swear I hadn't heard it on radio since then.
