I didn't want to post this first since I do not know the correct format for such posts...Appears that nobody has posted this...
Wednesday 8/31/04
Location: south Puget Sound area, Washington state
Observation: Skywave "80% less than normal" from 8pm to 10pm
Skywave returned at 10pm.
Distant 50kW stations that normally are loud and clear were markedly reduced, such as 720 KDWN Las Vegas, 810 KGO San Francisco, 1090 XEPRS Rosarita/Mexico, 1510 KGA Spokane, etc.
Local stations that were loud and clear...these normally oscillate with distant stations at night: 880 KIXI Mercer Island/Seattle, 1180 KLAY Lakewood/Tacoma, 1150 KKNW Bellevue/Seattle.
Where is the best place on the web to follow MW/SW/Ham radio operations and auroras?
Considering the important role of HAM radio operations in emergency management and the hurricane, we certainly hope that we are not in another period of increased solar activity.
How often do these events occur? How long do they usually last? Any reports from the Southeastern US? Would it be expected to affect all of North America at night if it was in Washington State?
