Slight WIP Changes

I assume that some of you have heard the slight changes on WIP. From the breaks and at the top of the hour, there is a new voiceover person who introduces the on-air talent.

The voice sounds familiar. Is it the same voice who has done work for Fox Sports?

Thanks in advance.

The guy who used to do FOX Football did alot of work for GM around 2002. So its entirely possible he's doing WIP. Some of the spots were funny you couldn't tell it was him, then others it was like he was telling the listeners to watch the Colts and Lions next sunday. The guy is pretty talented.

Yes it is the guy who used to do the Fox Sports Promos. He was also the voice of promos and ID's for Fox Sports Radio. In a slightly odd move, ESPN has been slowly working him in as the voice for their promos. He does most if not all of their baseball promos and has been doing other things for the past few months.
I wonder why WIP made the switch. Maybe its a part of their tinkering - switch the Promo guy, and create a fight between Cataldi and Eskin.

Just a thought, maybe get a new host under the age of 50?

This is pretty interesting:

Dan Gross | Missanelli back to WIP

GOOD NEWS for fans of Mike Missanelli. Looks like he'll return to the airwaves at 610 WIP.

Station sources say Missanelli, who worked at WIP from 1992 to 2003, will soon rejoin his former co-host Anthony Gargano.

"I cannot confirm that," says WIP GM Marc Rayfield.

Gargano now hosts from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Steve Martorano.

We're told Martorano's contract is up. Sources weren't sure whether he'd be kept on in another role at the sports-talk station.

Missanelli, 49, left 'IP to host the "Philly Guys" morning show at 93.3 WMMR. He was fired from that station a year ago.

Calls to Missanelli, and Martorano were not returned yesterday.
