Slightly OT: Drunken Pirates favored over Stanley Cup Champs

Wow. Poor Channel 8. NBC finally decides to show a Lightning game...to this point, the only time all season...after all, Tampa isnt New York, Denver or Detroit...and they have to hand it off to TV 32 because of the Gaspirilla Parade, featuring a bunch of inebriated white folks marching up the street....

This comes after the Bolts edged the Devils, the hottest team in sport 1-0 before 20,000 plus at home..and now face their arch nemisis Philly.

Great day for TV 32.

Its enough to drive those at Channel 8 to drink.........

It turned out to be a great game for Lightning fans with a 6-0 blowout of the Flyers in Philly.

However, I was impressed with Channel 8's coverage of the parade. You can definitely see a lot more on TV. I believe WFLA radio also had a live broadcast from the parade route.

I kinda felt bad for the folks at Channel 8. The late Chris Thomas who was a fan fave here both on TV and Radio would go back and forth with anchor Bob Hite during Lightning highlights...and back then there were few and far between, by paraphrasing the SNL skit of "Da Bears" into "Da Bolts".

Maybe ya had to be there for those days, but hopefully NBC will find it in their hearts to put Tampa Bay..the defending Cup Champs back on the schedule later in the year.
