Sling TV last night experienced widespread streaming problems during the TNT broadcast of game seven of the NBA playoff series between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder, according to social media comments, DownDetector.com reports, and the company itself.
Shortly after tip-off at 9 p.m. ET, Sling TV customers began posting complaints on Twitter saying they couldn't access TNT although every other Sling channel was working fine. While XBox owners seemed to be most affected, the comments came from Sling users of a variety of devices including Roku and Chromecast.
DownDetector.com, a web site that tracks online outages, reported 1,030 Sling TV user complaints at the height of the streaming issues, which is a large number for a company that may have fewer than one million subscribers.
Sling TV never explained what caused the issue which was described by unhappy customers as ranging from an inability to access the channel to picture freezing to run-of-the-mill buffering.
