Slingbox

I am considering buying one of those Slingboxes. I'd like to know if anyone on here has used them and what the TV quality is like when you watch it online. I'd also like to know how easy they are to hook up and use. Thanks.

I have one, and the quality is pretty good (although you are not going to get perfect yet). I have had no problems with it.

There are 3 models (AV, AV+HD, 4-input + HD). There was a model with an analog tuner, but it has been discontinued in preparation for the DTV transition. It allow's you to control the remote a cable box or whatever else is hooked up to it from your computer.

So if you're a TV nut, this will likely be a good purchase for you. I have Slingbox AV, hooked up to DirecTV on my spare bedroom receiver. It's great, and I watch anything I want, where I want from my Palm Centro cell phone using the Slingbox mobile player. You can change channels remotely, switch between RCA input/S-Video input devices. It has a built-in optimizer function that tries to manage the quality of the stream vs. how much "speed" your internet connection has, but I tend to turn that off for highest quality.
