Slogans and Station Names (who owns what)

I was doing some looking up on the internet and was wondering if anyone had the rights to this slogan and a couple others. Because it said that some company named Spark Net owned the "Playing What We Want" slogan. So does anyone own these following slogans?

"Playing What We Want"
"Playing Whatever We Want"

Also just to add about radio station names. Does Clear Channel own the KISS or KISS-FM station name? As CBS Radio has a KISS CHR station in Seattle, WA and Charlotte, NC. And their are a couple that use KISS for Urban AC stations such as 98.7 KISS in NYC. Even the CHR station on XM Radio is called KISS. And as for the Jack-FM station name CBS Radio doesn't own that correct?

K-Rock - owned by CBS Radio
FREE-FM - owned by CBS Radio
LITE-FM - not owned by anyone as Clear Channel and other stations use it
Hot, The Beat, Power - used not just by one radio company

WKIS-FM (99.9) "Kiss" is a country station owned by Beasley.
It was previously WKQS.

I know there used to be a WKIS in Orlando, but I don't
know if it was AM, FM, or both.

Yes, Sparknet Communications bought it from me. They license stations to use the registered trademark with JACK branded stations.

Some "KISS" were that before Clear Channel bought KIIS & WKSS and the trademark and can't be touched. JACK-FM is a registered trademark of SparkNet Communications and is licensed to CBS and other companies for their use with the JACK branded format.

CC owns the rights to the Kiss name, however, they DO NOT own KISS-FM. KISS-FM is a Rock station in San Antonio owned by Cox. See their site: http://kissrocks.com/

There are also examples of CC and others having "agreements" over the Kiss name... Ex: Milwaukee. CC is in Milwaukee but Entercom owns Kiss 103.7. The reason I've heard that CC hasn't done anything is the fact that Entercom has 99 WMYX which was the first station to use the "Mix" name, which they could use against CC's mix stations.

Doesn't CC own the rights to "The River" name?....I remember years ago when 99.9 WODE Easton, PA flipped to Classic Hits as "The River" CC stepped in and told them they must change their name.......So Nassau ended up changing WODE's name to "The Hawk"

Same thing happened in Philadelphia with "Wild" 96.5 WLWD....CC forced Beasley to change the "Wild" name so it ended up as "Wired" 96.5 taking the WRDW calls.<P ID="signature">______________

"Froggy" is used on country music stations and the DJ's each have a Froggy on-air name such as Jimmy Hoppa, Tom Green, Peat Moss, Wendy Green, and the list goes on. Each DJ must use their Froggy name on the air.
I Mister Froggy am the OFFICAL Froggy Mascot and the children love me.

And Emmis has a classic Rocker in Terre Haute, Indiana "105.5 The River" I think the format may be older than Clear Channel itself <grin>

And WXRV, 92.5 The River, a rimshot into Boston, which is owned by Northeast Broadcasting. Also NextMedia's 95.9 WERV, in Aurora, IL, which does classic hits.

I believe that was a local dispute, not a corporate one. Clear Channel owns WRVV "The River" in Harrisburg, PA, whose coverage area overlaps that of WODE. When there is little or no overlap, such as between "Star 99.1" WAWZ in NJ and "Star 99.9" WEZN in CT, then there is usually no such complaint.

Bonneville in St. Louis has 101.1 The River/WVRV and 106-5 The Arch "...and whatever we want" is part of their slogan.

Clear Channel owns about 5% of XM and programs Kiss and a few of the neighboring channels; their trademark "Mix" format is on channel 22.

Satellite radio: "Everything you hate about terrestrial radio programmed by the same reason you hate it."

What about names used pre-consolidation, the ones with less excitement (for lack of a better word), like "Lite Rock"... many of those became Mixes when CC bought them out. Any others?

That I know of, wonder why Clear Channel doesn't want those calls KISS-FM.

Well I didn't know Clear Channel owned the Mix name. As you got Mix 102.7 WNEW in NYC, Mix 98.5 in Boston, MA. Why didn't CC stop CBS Radio from letting WNEW use the Mix name? And another thing I just notice by going to xmradio.com and clicking the Hit stations page where the Mix logo is, then I went to the Mix 102.7 WCPZ website. They are both the same logos only different colors.
