The Unhappiest Songs on Your AC Radio Station It's an interesting topic. How do PDs/MDs come up with how many "slower" songs that end up testing well like Hero by Enrique (listed in this article.) It seems like the 2000s had a lot of them, but I wonder what made more rhythmic pop more of the "norm" and the slower songs not as much on formats like Hot AC and AC. For example, I don't think the "national mood" has been particularly good at least the last few years, unless they figure people want escapism more. I like some of both (definitely on the dance side and melodic side.)
