Smackdown Goes Upscale?

What in the Wide, Wide World of Sports is KFWhyEye thinking by having their next Smackdown at the toney Hyatt Regency at Gainey Ranch? Does the new Dudeboss really believe anyone other than the staff, spouses and domestic partners will actually show up at a place too upscale for the likes of Bruce Jacobs and JD Loudmouth? In spite of the Nearly Bald One's whining about doing a Smackdown from a Mexican cantina where rowdy attendees bought cheap cerveza and margaritas, the setting was perfect and you could easily find it. Can't say the same about the upscale Hyatt where even a former Scottsdale mayor would have to call 911 to get directions! Sorry, but Nurse Jeff and I won't embarass our '76 Gremlin by turning the keys over to some 20 year old offering free valet parking while dreaming of a generous tip from the Middle Eastern Men of The Media! Here's our tip: skip this Monday's Smackdown.....you won't be alone!

A much better Scottsdale location would be under the tower
at Ponderosa Lumber, 64th St. and Thomas.

2x4 specials--lumber or drinks--from 4-6pm!

The only problem might be when the lamptimer kicks in at
5:28...or 5:31...or 5:34 ;D, as the sudden reduction in RF
could dump their microwave signal going back to Van Buren.

Dr...I need directions. Who do I ask for when I call Scottsdale's 911? ???

Just tell 'em you're a member of Sam's club and they'll get you there! Otherwise follow any Mercedes with a McCain bumper sticker down Scottsdale Rd, then turn east on Doubletree Ranch Road.

I remember going to a smackdown (battle of the hosts) once at Denim & Diamonds in Tower Plaza (!)

It was Jack Cole's last day on the air, and his performance smacked of Contractual Obligation. I remember seeing him on a payphone screaming and yelling at someone.

But, Gainey Ranch? What are they going to do when Bruce and his boy Robin Mike Broomhead show up? The hotel will probably tell them they aren't accepting applications for valet parking boys.

Snottsdale...where everyone is wearing the same face, because the botox is so strong.

AKBAR

Where have you been. There's been no fun and I just tuned out until today. I am sure glad to see you again.
I'll now check the rest of the board for your ascerbicisms.

The denizens of this board may be interested in a quip ;) from Jay
this past Sunday evening. (I only tuned in for a few minutes so I
couldn't have helped the quarter-hour maintenance.)

Jay was discussing the Fairness Doctrine and mentioned that if it
was reinstated, stations would be reduced to "toaster talk."

Toaster talk...from the not so distant past of KT'R...how appropriate. ;D

oldies fan

ah memories sweet memories.

IOf those were only the correct few minutes. If you listen longer you'll hear gems galore.

I am sure they will let Bruce in, not sure about Boy Wonder Robin Broomhead, Valet's have a thing about parking old pick up trucks with gun racks inside of the cab.

Luvable One

You'll be happy to hear that Nurse Jeff anestisized a portion of my body recently and I self removed those nasty things! They're in a specimen bottle on the mantle of the Buckeye Media Hut fireplace and you're welcome to check them out on your next visit. btw - are humbles in season this time of the year??

Dr Akbar

A smackdown at Gainey Ranch makes as much sense as a Pat McBland commentary! ??? ??? ???

The simple explanation:
Mexican food and margaritas on Election Eve do not mix! Especially depending on who does most of the talking, Election DAY could spell trouble for some!

Dr A

I checked the book, then to the woods. Humbles are large and ripe and make great pies for those who are willing to admit, as you have, that perhaps, though slower than many would have liked, My singing of "just you wait Enry Iggins just you wait" was prophetic.

And thanks to those knowledgeable folk (Old Gringo) who have pointed out the importance of 25-54.

Your mantle must be a very crowded mantle what with the trophies from your youth in the Chopendazs
League. (everyone now goes to their encyclopedia)

William Hung has a better singing voice than yours, Luvable One, and just about everyone knows how prophetic we've been when it comes to 92~Three!

If the Master Blogger had listened to us earlier, it would'nt have taken KT'R two years to get where they are today. The Nurse and I still recall McBland making such a big deal about being heard in both the right and left speakers of his stereo. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. And how long did it take TMB to realize Paul Harvey should not have made the move to FM? (sfx-crickets)

Our wager was on 12+ numbers and even the Old Gringo can tell you who leads today. Eventually KT'R will beat KFWhyEye 12+ (soon to be 6+), but we'd love to hear the battle with both stations on the same band.

While we're waiting on that Humble Pie, how 'bout doing an LMA with 98.7 and seeing what happens?

Given that KTAR now has all the younger listeners, maybe KFYI should reschedule the smackdown for a location in Sun City, someplace within walker distance.

Anyone remember that great KFWhyEye promo that talked about their talkers having teeth while the competition (KT'R 6~Twenty) was looking for theirs? Yes indeedy, times have changed for the station that once billed itself as Talk Radio For A New Generation. Hmmmm...wasn't it two years ago this past August that the Esteemed Middle Eastern Men of the Media advised the CCU suits to move KFWhyEye to FM before TMISU did it with KT'R?

Oh, and btw - Nurse Jeff and I will be almost unrecognizable this Halloween as we're going as Tim and Willy! Sure hope the Luvable One doesn't turn off his porch light after 7pm and hang that "out of candy" sign on the front door like he did last year.
