Small changes in Austin

I noticed this weekend that there have been a couple of changes in the market.

-KXPW-LP in Georgetown is no longer Power FM - appears to be more AC targeted 'The Source'

-K-Love is no longer on the 97.1 translator, it's now "Fiesta Musica Internacional" and sounded like a Mexican radio station. (as in being broadcast from Mexico) Scanned the dial, and didn't find that programming anywhere else on HD or AM, so thought that was sort of interesting.

Does Bastrop still have the translator on 102.7 I wonder for power FM?

what music does power fm play ?, i noticed a translator on 105.5.

Where did you notice the translator? It can't be too far north, because KUSJ in Temple would bleed over it.

Power FM is (or was) a Christian station that is geared for a younger crowd. "Cooler than K-Love" is how a lot HS or college Christians would describe it.

The 105.5 is in Bastrop and with only 15-25 watts it has to worry about being overrun by everybody.

Hasn't been oldies in months, it's Spanish language KOKE 1600 AM

Actually, that was a google search that led me there. As for a radio, they're not terribly effective with some of these translators..... ;D

Yes, I understand. :) BTW, the Steck-Anderson / Mo-pack area is notoriously bad for FM reception (sometimes called the "black hole"). That is probably because of Cat mountain/Mount Bonnell, and the rounded hills to the west of Mo-Pack there. Its Balcones' fault.

Translators can change what they rebroadcast on a whim, and then notify the FCC by letter. Radio-locator does not always pick up that info, and often simply reports what was on the latest application. Sometimes they even miss that. Example: Radio-locator has no info about K236AY, but it has been rebroadcasting KTXZ 1560 since June 2008.
