Small directional antenna out there?

Does anyone know if there is a small directional antenna at a decent price where I might could stick on the roof or something? I'd like to hook it up to my PC radiocard down at a fringy area.
Thanks in advance.

I have not used this antenna but friends of mine have and liked the results, That antenna is the directional FM antenna. You could probably use that antennaproviding you have either lugs or a coax cable connection. For AM I am unsure of? Hope this is of help

I recommend a Radio Shack Yagi - it has six elements and tons of gain. I have used it for 200 mile FM reception, it sounds like your situation is not nearly as demanding.

I am still in the process of testing it, but there is an antenna from Godar that is actually a log periodic in a flat plastic housing. It takes advantage of the fact that log periodic antennas roll off slowly in gain - and still seems to provide gain even though it is physically small.

Try the Godar FM-1A:

Point the small end towards the station you want - even though that's where the connector is. Log Periodics feed from the small end.

Late evening and early mornings are best for FM DX as the atmosphere changes. Any antenna will do better at these time. Best I can estimate now is that the Godar has about 3 dB of gain. Not bad for its small package. I am going to do some controlled experiments soon.
