Small DX opening today in Connecticut

There was a small DX opening this morning in Connecticut this morning. I was waiting for my Mom this morning at the Starling Medical Building on Kensington Avenue in New Britain, Connecticut and had a few interesting pick-ups on the radio in the 2010 Honda Civic. (Note: not all were coming in at the same time)

94.9 WJJF - Montauck, Long Island almost crystal clear. (New pick up for me). "94.9 News Now" serves the New London Market.

103.3 WODS - Boston, Mass "Amp Radio." Staticy , but faded in and out. Heard them mention "Amp Radio" and "Boston."

105.5 WQGN - Groton, Connecticut. "Q-105." Staticy, but listenable." I haven't picked up "Q-105" since WEEI-FM launched a full-power repeater in the Springfield Market on 105.5 back many years ago.

104.7 WELJ - Montauck, Long Island. Almost Crystal Clear. "The East End's Soft Favorites. The new 104.7 WELJ."

107.5 WFCC - Cape Cod, Mass. Classical. Very weak.

Last night I got some interesting catches too. From Montville, I received a bunch from Maine and NH and the Boston and Cape signals were coming in like locals. Some days during the summer dxing kicks up. I usually end up missing E Skip but last summer I caught a bunch of stuff from Florida and Georgia for an hour.

This was tropo, not E skip. Boston, Cape Cod and Providence stations were also strong here in Meriden a couple of days this week. WEAN-FM 99.7 was loud and clear Thursday night with WPRO's talk programming.
