Well the series had it's ten year run and ended with a two part episode. Comments from anyone on what they thought of the show's finale?

too little too late.
i have not watched all the episodes .just bits here and there but the 5 minuites or so of clark being the superman was pretty good.thats the problem.it set up the premese for a great superman story, took 10 years and its over.if i watched for ten years regular it would have made me mad that they didn`t do more with the setting in the very end.
the clark kent /superman was good.why didn`t they go that direction?the superman luthor dynamic is set and nothing will be done with it.

When this show debuted in 2001 it had such great potential. After season one the show went downhill when it came to the scripts and acting.
Fast-forward to May 13, 2011.
Regarding the finale I would rate it a 4 out of 10. I don't believe the show needed two hours to "wrap things up".
The final few minutes of the show when Superman saves Air Force One was a ripoff from the original Superman movie starring Christopher Reeve.

it would have been better if the first hour last night ended with clark thinking about wearing the costume taking care of things as superman as opposed as the blur and the second hour allowing a good tom weller in the superman costume version.

Actually Welling never wore the entire Superman costume during the last five minutes of the show. Just the shirt as he's about to fly off the Daily Planet building.
From what I've read the producers, and Welling himself, were opposed to the idea of him wearing the Superman outfit.
Since a few people have replied I will offer my two cents.
I too agree that Smallville was getting long in the tooth. Wow ten years is a long run in today's television life span, especially when one considers better shows have been cancelled after ten weeks.
Looking at the ratings over the past decade, the show started out with over 8 million viewers and ended with 2 million. Such a loss of an audience would have resulted in many networks pulling the plug on the show years ago, yet the CW kept Smallville on for some reason.
As for the finale; I wasn't that impressed, even though I watched it mostly out of curiosity.
Some people wonder why Welling wasn't chosen to play Superman in the upcoming movie. Perhaps he decided not to be typecast in that role, which is a smart move considering what happened to George Reeves and Dean Cain.
Most of us read that Reeves couldn't get another acting job after The Adventures of Superman went off the air in 1957, thus leading to his untimely death in 1959. Cain's career meanwhile has been relegated to "B" movies and mediocre made for TV movies.

Sure, the finale wasn't perfect. I'd like to have seen a close-up of Clark in the suit. And seen Perry White rather than just hearing him. And I don't get the erasing of Lex's memory. Somehow he had to not know Clark was Superman, but that would have been enough.
And it was never explained how peple are not going to recognize Clark. The glasses just won't do it.
The pushing away of Apokolips could have been more of a challenge.
But the flashbacks and the "previously" reminded us what an epic adventure this has been.
John Glover was fantastic. Michael Rosenbaum was good, but he has deprived us of his talent the past few seasons.
Erica Durance was great. John Schneider was good and I especially enjoyed seeing him give Clark The Suit.

One thing is for certain; Tom Welling and a few others on the show are very wealthy individuals today. As for the show itself, I still believe the quality of the program declined over the years. There were some seasons that I felt the actors and especially the writing staff were "calling it in".
The show should have lasted five years at the most then called it quits. The finale did have its moments, but the best parts were reminiscing about the earlier episodes.
For me the decline of the show started when most of the original cast bailed.
