Has anyone else read, or heard reports that next season will be the last one for Smallville on the WB Network?
My son’s friend, who works in Hollywood, told my son recently that he’s heard rumors that some of the key cast members of Smallville want to call it quits after the 2006 season ends so they can concentrate on a movie career. Tom Welling reportedly also expressed concerns about being type-cast as Clark Kent and wants to move on.
Since the series past the four year mark, the cast can still count on residuals from the show and the WB can make money packaging the series on DVDs.
Recent ratings have Smallville ranked in the mid 80s out of the 200+ shows on the air. It’s not in the top 20, but then again it’s on cable and appears to attract the demographics that advertisers want.
If anyone else has heard anything, please post that information here.
Thanks
