"Smash" Hit For NBC?

DToTheJ said:
The show that debuted on NBC the night after the Super Bowl (you may recall they hyped this one a lot leading up to and during the big game) has been renewed for a second season. Former "American Idol" contestant Katharine McPhee stars.

It may not be a "hit" in conventional terms, but as the article points out, it is NBC's top rated show and it could provide the stability on Monday nights, along with what I'm guessing while be another round of "The Voice" in the fall- or some incarnation of "The Voice" to help buoy NBC's lineup.

The only way to save a network is to slowly but steadily build on what you have. NBC has already been down the road of scrapping tons of programming, and trying to reinvent the wheel by putting Jay Leno at 10pm, and we saw how that worked. CBS, the network who plays it closest to the vest in terms of making few large programming changes, is the most stable in terms of ratings as well.
